My suspicions about Paula Radcliffe.

I think she has built her record on hard drug programmes. The reason I say this is because early on in her career, she was ok but nothing special.

Suddenly, she started breaking records by silly amounts and was praised to the heavens.

However, once the Olympics came round, there was a lot of noise about strict testing on athletes. This was four years ago and I said to my Mrs..."Radcliffe won't do anything now. She won't risk taking the gear and will flop. She did.

As soon as the Olympics were over, she started doing the business again! As I predicted. Now, with the Olympics coming round again, she is at it again. As I thought she might be.

I think that four years ago, she thought she could do it without the drugs and was found desperately wanting. This time round, she is making no such assumptions and knows full well she doesn't have what it takes.

"I'll give it a go" is her line now.

Well **** me...how brave dear Paula is. Bollocks.

Nothing in her career adds up for me. Everytime I have predicted difficulties for her they have come true, even after the last Olympics when I predicted, with less stringent tests, her results would suddenly pick up again, they did.

Oh well...just watch her and the excuses this time.

It is a horrible accusation I know, but I have strongly suspected it. Very difficult area as she has never been caught so is not guilty, but there is just something not quite right about her physically and her sudden leapfrog from an outsider to a strong finishing Olympic winner.

What irks me most is the venom with which athletes like Carl Lewis (coughcough) and Holmes treat those who have been caught.

An alternative rant/theory..

I always said that she couldn't beat the African girls because of her physique (I swear some of them could run across water as they are 75% legs, with no excess weight to carry at all). She then lost weight to an anorexic level and started winning. This leaves you vulnerable to illness as your body has no reserves and she is now unable to stay fit for a season as a result of what she did to get her body to a competitive level.

You would think that Paula Radcliffe must have been drugs tested numerous times throughout her career and all must have been clean so I'm not convinced.

Unconvinced about Paula Radcliffe taking drugs, she used (may still) train in Loughborough and an old colleague of mine used to tell me how hard she used to train etc.

She is a very good street runner but doesn't do the business on the track, at the Olympics like many other favourites I think she choked.

Can't comment on Paula Radcliffe as I don't really follow the Olympics,

however I thought at the time it was a bit crap that Kelly Holmes got out of it all as soon as she got her medals and her damehood (is that a word?)

Athletes are tested all the time not just at the Olympics. The reason Radcliffe is saying 'I'll give it a go' is because she's had her first kid this year and has also been injured a lot.

Thing is, this argument that she would have been caught by now is pretty spurious. Wouldn't Kelly?

Wouldn't Ben Johnson before he was caught been caught beforehand. You cant say Ben Johnson just too drugs for that final but never before. Athletes don't always get tested and they know their way around so to speak.


And as for having just had a baby...well, just look at the proof!

Also...Marion Jones was tested on numerous occassions and was 'clean'
