I did do, but kind of last my appetite last week when it was stupidly hot, and then I had four days in a row on the beers where I didn't really eat properly so all my hard work is probably down the drain I bought loads of good food this morning though so I'll be stocking up again this week

I failed the second test and went back to week one, but this time I'm doing column two instead of one. I'm now struggling with day three of week one. I feel bloody weak.

i have just purchased 2 kettlebells - last year i had a personal trainer that introduced me to them and the effects were bloody amazing, unfortunately money and time dictated that i had to give up the trainer and i got fat and out of shape.

i have got my own now and have to try and motivate myself..anyone use them on here or have any tips on diet and circuits for these things?

kettlebells.com and crossfit.com (or Google Kettlebells and Pavel)

These bells are the real deal for me, I'll buy a set soon but use it in the gym to a very good effect.

Kettlebells are getting rave reviews at the minute.

I've been told to lay off the streets after completely spackering my knee during the Great North Run. Apparently If I keep up the 30+ miles a weeks I'm doing I'll dee mesel in proper like. Also means that my dreams of a full marathon before I'm 30 have been shot to ****.

Anyway, as an alternative I've re-joined the gym and am going to spend some time there while I get myself some rock hard abs and massive guns (while also having a bit of a lurk about and checking out the trim). Might try the 100 press up thing again (I got bored by week 3 last time) and may look at Kettlebells. However one of my mates has also recommended this as a groovy little toy

Anyone familiar with them. Worth investing in?
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

I've been doing some crossfit exercises in the gym and we use kettlebells regularly I feel it's really good for developing core strength. Highly recommend it, I am working on muscles I didn't know I had.

                    Bad news mate

I've also been out injured for almost 2 months now with really bad tendonitis of the achilies . Could hardly walk for a few weeks. I've been advised by the phsyio it should clear up in the next 7-10 days though so fingers crossed.

Ouch. Doesn't sound good at all. I could probably have minimised the damage and recovery time if I had stopped when my knee first went but as it was 2 months before the run I foolishly kept on putting in the miles. As it was I did the total damage on the day. Some guy stopped dead in front of me at about the 4 mile mark and i had to jump up a kerb to get round him. When I came back off the kerb my right knee just buckled under me. It was bloody awful! Thought I was going to have to pack in at 5 miles but i managed to get some momentum and got through the last 8 miles. It knacked my time though. I was 3 minutes faster this year than i had been at 4 miles last year but I ended up coming in in 1 hour 51, so 8 minutes off my PB and 5 minutes slower than last year, plus a huge fight with the doctors at the end who's medical advice extended to implying that I was a bit thick.

Still, if i split my time between gym and streets (I've been told to keep my "unsupported" running to 10 miles a week whatever that means) I should be able to do halfies without too much bother. I doubt I'll ever get to put in the 65 miles a week you need to be training for a full marathon though.

You still thinking about a half this year or has injury snookered you as well?

Got a question for you fitness guys on here. I have recently lost nearly 4 stone through just changing my eating habbits (laying off the crisps, biscuits and beer ).

Problem is that it has come off all over my body and left me with the famous middle age pot belly ATM. How on earth can I get rid of this? I have been told that sit-ups will just turn the fat into muscle so dont do them unless I want a rock hard pot belly hahaha.

                        Any advice appreciated

I'm no expert but I think exercise is the only way, intense weight lifting and exercise is good for burning so you don't need to run miles to burn fat.

Still thinking of it yes, will know in a few weeks once I've got back into the swing of it, but I dont think its beyond me at all.

65 miles a week for a marathon sounds out of my league though really.

I think I probably need to re-join the gym I lost loads when I went on the cross-trainer thingy

I'm doing something similiar to this and getting good results plus it's more fun. The idea is to do intense exercises for a short period and catching your breath while doing another lighter exercise.

For example a workout can look like ( they vary wildly though):

                                400 m. jog
Shoulder press with 50% of body weight 20 times (Or what ever is heavy for you)
                                50 sit ups

Repeat 5 times, that gives a great workout and each day is different which is key for me really. I don't do my program though, we have trainer who takes care of all that.

Doing this sheds the pounds off you and strengthens you incredibly fast.
