    What a **** day.
Arvesen broke his collarbona, and is out of the Tour.
Hushovd couldn`t match Cavendish (no surprise).
It didn`t look like the no radio rule had much effect, the peleton just stayed closer to the break-away.

Face it, fredo - you know f*ck all about cycling. That's fine of course but stop kidding yourself you do.

        It was fairly dull.

I hadn't heard about Arvesen's fracture but, having seen the doctor examining it and him wincing when it was touched, it's hardly a surprise.

I'd agree, no radios made the peloton play safe and they clearly agreed between themselves not to bother overexerting themselves until the last 30km. If it was an attempt to encourage less tactical riding and more attacking then it failed dismally.

If the UCI and ASO are serious about no radios then it needs to be introduced in a whole range of races so riders can get used to it and work out what the tactical implications are. Then we might just get more attacking rather than the defensive stalemate we witnessed yesterday.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Richard Williams in today's Guardian talks about the peloton passing what he claimed were handwritten notes around. I saw some of them looking at bits of paper from time to time but I assumed they were consulting their daily route cards (in the absence of getting information about the parcours through an earpiece).

Does anyone know if Williams' claim has any substance or is it merely a misunderstanding resulting from The Guardian no longer employing a specialist cycling journalist? It wouldn't be the first thing he's got wrong since he started writing a lot about cycling in the last year or two.

He has now equalled the British record of career Tour de France wins - Barry Hoban also won eight.

Cav though has done it in just two years. And he may well win more this year.

Caught the last 10k after I got in from the hospital....a lorry parked up off the road with just a foot of the trailer jutting out. Rain in my eyes, head down and drove my shoulder into the back of a it. feck me it hurt! collar bone and another seperated slightly from the shoulder and broke the bottom off my shoulder blade. Second collision with a lorry in a few months...

Anyway Renshaw is riding superbly for Cav. Wiggins a little unlucky to drop some time as he was deemed outside of the leading group. Very harsh imo.

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Bad luck, mate. How long are you off the bike?

Wiggins and a load of other riders (anyone 53rd and below) lost 15 seconds on yesterday's stage but the race jury changed their decision on review this morning and gave everyone the same time. BBC and Guardian still reporting he's 5th, 46 seconds behind Nocentini, after today's stage.

The thing is that colombia also has the best team for sprints, so even when he has a off day the team is strong enough to help him to a win.

                              The breakaway stays away.

Just did two of tomorrow's climbs - the category 1 one was very hard.
