I've been watching this sport since the likes of Pat Smith & Gracie so it's been quite some time since I started watching this and I know the sport well my friend, I go and watch fighters such as jimi manuwa, Nick Chapman and whomever is fighting on these bills.

My point is the middleweight division is quite thin on the ground, whilst Bisping might be decent he's lost against Sonnen (might have been harsh), Silva, Henderson & Evans most are better fighters than him (maybe not Sonnen) who also haven't managed to do the job on Silva (he is the best fighter I've ever seen in UFC).

Do you think for instance Bisping would beat Rich Franklin? RF was well beaten by Silva twice at the time and also admitted by Silva he was the best figher at middleweight bar himself.

The biggest fight that is out there apparently is Silva vs. GSP ask yourself why? Don't get me wrong Silva is a freak of a fighter but we need some more coming through the middleweight division.

Bisping is a decent fighter but he's not a "great fighter"

ok well apologies we have a differnce of opinion, I take your points and to extent they are somewhat valid. But Decent really does not do Bisping justice, would he beat Franklin ( my all time favorite fighter ) I am honestly not sure.

You cannot take Bisping down, many have tried including the best take down artist on the planet, Sonnen, and failed. He has a better gaz tank than anybody in the sport in any division, and technically he is a very very good striker. You do get him to the ground, he walks the cage, gets some underhooks in and pulls a wizard and hes teeing off on you. His only perceived weakness is his lack of power. But I think he has earned his stripes.

Like you I have been following the sport since the early days, I have done a little bit of training, hang out with people who are part of Legend Fighting Asia's closet thing to the UFC and whilst i am not fanboy of Bisping he has to be taken seriously as a contender. He won that fight against Chael, hes won 6 on the bounce, he just beat a guy with a lot of Juice ... give him a shot I say ... sure he will probally get lit up like a christmass tree but you could say that for anybody you fights Silva, GSP and Jones at the moment

Rcasemore, do you not think there is something in who Bisping has lost too? Henderson, Sonnen, Evans and Silva are 4 of the greatest of all time. No shame in losing to any of them. So its not fair to dismiss him on his loss record.

Think he deserves a shot at the belt, if anything because he has been knocking around the upper-mid level for so long its starting to get a little unfair on him.

He may well lose. But imagine what it would do for the fight scene in this country if we had a guy headlining up against the best of all time.

Edit: Thats wrong too. The guy has been going pretty much since the sport began. he just hasnt evolved enough to keep up. His last two losses were too Silva though. Which is nothing to be ashamed about.

He had 1 good fight ? he beat Miller, Okami, Marquardt, in many ways Silva himself, Stann, and Bisping

You do realise these guys are the best ****ing fighters on the planet in that weight class ... you know that right

It might not be pretty ... but he imposes his will, hes usually physically stronger and he pounds the **** out of people on the ground

I like him as a fighter ... probably thee most difficult fighter to fight against around right now

Who Bisping or Sonnen ? does not matter regardless of what you think they are both top 10 in the world ... think about that for one moment .. thats like being in the top ten footballers in the world

You forgot to mention that Sonnen had a testosterone level 16.9:1 during that fight.



As for your assertions about Bisping. He's good but he's not an elite level fighter. Each time he's faced an elite or near elite fighter he's been found wanting.

Come on man, he held him down for 25 minutes with his wrestling skills, which Silva massively under rated, and after 25 minutes of being on top, he hadn't caused a significant amount of damage. Also Silva had a broken rib in the fight, and as mentioned, his testosterone levels...

I'm not saying I want anything, I understand that the top fighters are only a small percentage of overall numbers and I like a lot of fighters who are t top of the pile, I just admit that they aren't the best ever.

Out of all the fighters mentioned to back up your view, you choose Brian Stann! By far the worst of the lot. He really is a second rate fighter, look who he has beaten, the only notable one is Chris Leben in his whole career
