I genuinely think they hadn't got a clue how to combat it, they certainly should have. You could see after the first rounds they kept asking him how are you, I'm good, I feel great. 4th and 5th the round they had nothing and he looked demoralized which you would when some big cunt has been lying on top of you for 15 mins.

Agreed when Chimaev went to shoot, feet should have been further back, they knew it was coming everyone did but just had no answer. DC said it multiple times about what he should be doing to combat it and he was an elite wrestler. I never want wrestlers to win for some reason but if you can't wrestle and you come up against that, you're ****ed. He is an absolute beast but that was terrible to watch for the main event as it was so one sided. Chimaev vs De Ridder is very interesting from a grappling perspective, you wouldn't bet against Chimaev but De Ridder is a much better match on the ground.

His coaches want sacking. They knew exactly what would be coming at them and his take down defence was atrocious. Feet too far forward to sprawl and no attempt to push Chimaev's head down. When taken down he tried to scoot to the fence where Chimaev is even more effective.
Then between rounds they had no advice other than try to knock him out lol

Watching the Du Plessis vs Chimaev fight I'm not sure I've seen a more one sided title fight.

Im not disputing he’s a bad judge or arguing the decision could have been different.
Just offering a reason for the performance (ankle injury in round one) and a charitable explanation of the scoring.
Also significant strikes and damage are not the same thing.
You can land more significant strikes and have more control time but still lose the round.
The closest the fight came to finishing was when Gordon was rocked before the eye poke and the attempted choke.

Below par performance certainly but he damaged his ankle in the opening exchange and is having an MRI on it. Also there was a recent change to scoring so as to place more emphasis on damage and far less on "control" in an attempt to stop people just lying on top of there opponent for as long as they can without doing anything which makes for ****ty fights.

Crosby has been a dodgy scorer of professional combat bouts before any changes came in.

He is also consistent with his "odd" scoring across various promotions. Not unusual to see him score in favour of the fighter that is getting a push when said fighter looks to have lost.

He is very much a "home town" style judge whose leaning towards a fighter you can predict before a bell has rung.

He did it twice last weekend. Once for a Bellator bout, once for a UFC one.


He also totally ignored the rule change you mentioned as Gordon landed a higher % of significent shots, had more takedowns as well as coming out on top in terms of control. Gordon

So whether you scored it on control or higher % of significent strikes, Gordon comes out on top. He landed something like 56 or 57% of his significent strike attempts. Pimblett landed 40% of his sig attempts.

Pimblett threw more shots but missed with a big % of them.

I don't normally watch MMA but I did see that one because it was on my YouTube feed. You are right, it was boring and neither of them deserved anything from it.

There is a reason why an overwhelming amount of current UFC fighters, ex fighters, commentators, pundits and so on are talking so much about it and that is the "strange" scoring in favour of Pimblett.

He did not look like he won a single round yet somehow got a unanimous decision.


Crosby must currently be the dodgiest judge in MMA as that is two crazy score cards from him on the same weekend.

If Pimblett looked that bad and that easy to handle against Jared Gordon, I reckon Dana White is going to keep him as far as he can from the top guys in the division for as long as he can in order to build him up as much as possible as a cash cow.

2nd top of the bill and he could have walked away with 12k

And they say boxing is a racket.

Boxing is a racket, but those are silly numbers for him tbh. That bonus system was a joke. Baseline numbers are way too low.
