The UFC for me have been dying a slow death since there hook up with Fox. Its all WWE style drama now, every fight has "bad blood" I am sure it wont be long before we have celebrity corner men. With the advent of Chael Sonnen and now Conor McGregor, the promotional aspect or otherwise known as talking **** aspect of the sport has been blown out of proportion, which is fine when they do it, but when other fighters without their flair for the dramatic, attempt to be "entertaining" it just comes across as the worse school play villain.Originally posted by Gibbo View PostThe UFC have fired stitch for making anti-reebok comments.
Its a real shame, anybody who has spent anytime in a martial arts gym will know for the most part there is real respect amongst fighters and people who train to a high level and this was very apparent in the early days of the UFC. Two very tough guys with usually different styles locked inside a cage, lets see whos best then lets shake hands afterwards, perfect. Now its all mouthy hybrid wrestlers who just all look the same to me. Probably over simplifying it , but for me it lost its authenticity, sure its always been about money, but now its seems its all about what the networks want in order to make that money
It will be very interesting to see how the sport fairs once these drug testing kicks in ... You will not see barn burners like MacDonald Lawyer once everybody is pissing cleanAnybody who criticizes Klopp ever is a James Blunt. Nov 2015

It really is a shame professional WMMA isn't competitive at all at a top level.
It's basically let them when a fight then feed them to Ronda, rinse and repeat, none of them are close to Rouseys league.
I have a feeling the same thing is going to happen with Joanna in the strawweight division too.The times they are a changin'.

Yeah the quality in Womans MMA is laughable. It should remain a fringe sport. UFC's attempt to push it into the mainstream is damaging their product long term.Originally posted by Gibbo View PostIt really is a shame professional WMMA isn't competitive at all at a top level.

Laughable that that fight headlined a show featuring Rua, Big Nig, Lil Nog and Big Foot Silva IN BRAZIL

Mens MMA started off a bit like this though. A couple of good fighters in each weight division. It takes time for women to see that its an option and grow IMO.Originally posted by spud_gun View PostYeah the quality in Womans MMA is laughable. It should remain a fringe sport. 5 years ago my partner wouldnt have known what MMA was. Now she wants to watch the Rousy fights with me. So I have to belive its others doing the same.
Its not damaging the product long term, no way. But maybe it is in the short/medium.*Except Michael, who died.

Aye im with Spud on this one. Shes very good obviously, but the rest of them are terrible, says it all that the biggest fight for her is Tate, again, someone who has she has already dispatched twice.
Cyborg at a catchweight, or even if cyborg could somehow drop the weight would peak my interest, but until then I couldn't really care less about Rondas fights.
To the more casual fan you can see the draw though, movie star, pretty attractive woman who just happens to be an animal, people tune into Mayweather knowing he'll probably win too.
G, the PPV sales guess is being pulled from Google searches isn't it? Chances are the hits would've been flying through just looking for a video of the beating.
Id be very shocked of it outdoes 189, as that was the strongest card if the year plus the hyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyype train. The times they are a changin'.

That's the first womens mma fight i've ever watched. I've been watching MMA since back in the day when it was on bravo and not as main stream. Heard so much talk about Rousey and I have to agree... I found it a bit embarrassing to be honest. Flailing arms everywhere & other girl practically running away.
I know she's renowned for her submissions etc and she'd kick the living ****e out of me but the boxing technique in comparison to likes of Katie Taylor was on a different level. Maybe I caught her on a bad day?
