Thanjk you.
Paul.S
which reminds me, whatever happened to Neill Young????
He wouldn't even make it into my top 10.
Federer for me, golf is a solo sport, tennis you actually have an opponent trying to make your life difficult on the other side of the net trying to push you into making one more shot, golf is all about the golfer versus the course, but the course isn't trying to beat you.
Armstrong probably second

Plus Tennis was already huge when Federer entered the game, whereas Golf where a rising sport when Tiger started dominating.
Federer for me - by far the best in the decade for me. + I don't consider Golf a real sport without getting in to that one again
Golf is no more a sport than chess. And regarding golf being a rising sport.....I'd say that golf was bigger/more popular before Tiger Woods came along. I remember (I think!?) watching the likes of faldo, langhar, ballesteros, lyle, woosnam, nicklaus, trevino, player, singh, price, couples, norman....etc etc all playing around the same time and sharing the spoils. Whereas Woods is just a medium sized fish in a small pond of below "par" players. That said, he knows where the hole is...
A mate of mine looked at this poll and said...."where's david haye"?"
Seriously though, Usain Bolt is the only candidate who has really pushed the boundaries of his profession, so surely he deserves the award.
Well, you could say that athletics is the only sport where its really possible to "push the boundaries" in a such a tangible way - ie. in terms of times and records.
Both Tiger and Federer have broken all sorts of records in their sports and are probably the greatest ever in them. And Armstrong's achievements make him definitely the greatest cyclist ever. I'm not really sure how any of them could have pushed the boundaries further than they have.
Can Bolt yet be called the greatest sprinter ever? I have no doubt at all that he will be by the end of his career, and his times say he is, but in terms of impact can he really be ranked above the likes of Jesse Owens & Carl Lewis already? Maybe he can, I'm not sure, but it feels like there's still so much more to come from him that it somehow seems wrong to me to put him first in this one.

Poll closes in three days for those who haven't voted....
Reason I haven't voted for Mr Nugget Usain Bolt is because his impact has only been two years within the decade. I'm sure he will win gold in London 2012 and probably still be around for Brazil. He'll probably then become the man of the 10s or whatever the next decade will be called.

Also, Roger Federer is the greatest sportsman of the decade with a staggering thirteen votes more than Tiger Woods.
Surprised Fed's won by such a margin but I wouldn't say it was the wrong result.

In hindsight I think Lance Armstrong should be given this title. Winning 7 Tour de France on the trot is probably the greatest achievement by any sportsman in any era. And he even came back to finish a respectable 4th.
