If you saw the game against LSU last season, Manziel was shut down in the second half. Use the defensive line to contain him and lock him in the pocket then use the linebackers to attack him. That is a good blueprint, force him to be a pocket passer. Manziel has only had one season and was a 3 star unheralded recruit out of high school, no one knew him and he caught teams by surprise now there is plenty of film on him so we'll see how season 2 goes.

Gators did the same thing opening day. Containment will always work against the Air Raid, and has worked against the Aggies for years. Saban presumably will take that on board this season. But the Aggies as a team didn't scheme well particularly for a passing first game. I'm not sure how much that tells us about a first year QB. Like I said, drawing definitive conclusions either way is foolish at this point. He still threw for almost three bills against LSU, but turned it over far too often. They led in that game though, and both that game and the defeat to Florida were one-score loses (and the Florida loss was week one).
Sumlin and Kingsbury will know they'll have to tweak the spread to have consistent success in the SEC, especially in their division. I imagine Manziel is spending a lot of time in the pocket in camp. Their O-line is awesome. I mean, that whole front five from last year could feasibly go pro (although Lewis probably won't snag a roster place at the Packers this season), and four of them are coming back. Their receiver team will change dramatically with Swope and Nwachukwu gone, but Mike Evans had a really good year and is only going to get better, and they'll utilise their tight ends this season. Cam Clear looks a big old unit, and Hicks is still there.
NCAA could make all of this moot, of course, but from the looks of the early AP the hacks don't think he'll be suspended. They've got Vandy and Mizzou from the Eastern this season, so a 10-2 year looks an absolute minimum. They have Bama week three after what should be formalities against Rice and Sam Houston, and have LSU after both teams have an off week. Year two, I think they'll work a few things.

Kingsbury is the new head coach at Texas Tech, so they don't have his offensive brain anymore. The Aggies actually lead early against LSU and Manziel did most of his damage in the 1st quarter and a half and in garbage time when LSU played prevent D protecting the lead.Originally posted by Hollowman View PostGators did the same thing opening day. Yes, I would also assume he's working on his pocket play but there aren't many QBs his size that can pull that off. Drew Brees is more of an exception than the rule. I also think Florida and LSU have very similar defenses, both play a 4-3 and have quicker linebackers. While Bama plays that 3-4 with bigger linebackers and less speed in their front 7, so personnel match ups may have something to do with it.

Watching Notre Dame v Michigan was mental. 110,000 fans all going mental, chanting the place down. What an atmosphere. Notre Dame bottled it in first quarter.
Redskins playing tomorrow and I've taping the Giants v Cowboys game tonight.
What with this and the Reds top of the league, I'm realy enjoying my sport watching lately :-)

Denver will be the team to beat this season. They don't have any holes in the squad. The Welker signing was excellent. They got better and weakened a rival for the superbowl title.
49ers with Kaepernick probably the closest challengers.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a
