I think the 100m should start with them all sat down at the start line. The gun goes, they all look at each other then one just gets up and sprints to the end

I eventually got the road race stuff but I don't think I'll ever get this. Make it a shorter race, so its a real sprint and a real race. No one's explained why it has to be so long a race that it requires the prowling cat stuff. Just sprint from the start.

I think if it was flat it would be able to more like athletics but its not

Why don't they do what every other form of sprinting does, be it running, horses, whatever. Just sprint from the start and scrap the lunacy.

Well if you leave horses running without any jockey they'll probably be sprinting for a 4000m race until they're blue in the face and they'll probably finish the race at a canter.

100m, 200m and 400m sprints in the track and field is different, it's a straightforward explosion of speed for that distance. Cycling is more tactical, as you basically cannot 'explode' for say 1km. So it's about timing and knowing exactly when to reach your optimal speed. Cavendish for example, is a master of it.

How the **** is that an answer to the question?! If you can't "explode for 1km" , then just make the race 200m long and leave out all the ****ing around. What actual purpose does the prowling stage serve?

How long are the time trials you've just witnessed? The difference is just that it's an individual thing and it's the way it is when it's 1 v 1 in a race for 1st.

On the road it's the same thing when two riders have broken away and have to fight it out for 1st place. That's just the nature of cycling.
