I don't know about you, but I've heard next to nothing about it. I didn't even know it's starting in 3 weeks time until today.

I've heard nothing about potential competitors or anything.

        Me too.

Was thinking about going, just to see the place and have a look around, and watch some sport. There's no way it's all sold out so there must be loads of tickets available.

        Est Paralympic meet up anyone?
        Oh I don't know.

With regard to money spent on swimming, I guess there is a lot of swimmers (endless number of events) and they all need to be supported financially. If we want to do well then our athletes need to treat it as their full time job and they need financial support to do that.

First the velodrome cost, now this. What's your ****ing problem with cycling?
              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Have you ever been riding in Lanzarote? Went on holiday there earlier on in the year and it was perfect cycling conditions. Lovely weather, smooth roads, amazing scenery, very few cars and great climbs. There are loads of cyclists in their fancy Lycra pedalling there.

Probably going back there in October but I won't be doing any pedalling

so looks like Aus will top group a with GB second

                      and

Netherlands topping group b and germany second.

i dont have a problem. I am just saying how the funding table you quoted is misleading.

I've been there but before I cycled. I had an idea to go training for a week in Tenerife in April, which also has some of the best 'dark skies' in Europe. I found a hotel and everything. Couldn't go in the end because of work.

Turns out Wiggins and co were there and now everyone will want to go there.

It's not misleading. The table shows how much public subsidy each sport gets and compares this to medal results.
