As for your "point" about the cost of the velodrome, I notice you didn't mention how the cost of the other venues wasn't included in the calculations for other sports.
Funny that..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

yes but some sports have alot more backing than the public subsidy, some sports dont.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostIt's not misleading. The table shows how much public subsidy each sport gets and compares this to medal results.
some sports had public subsidy in setting up the facitlites they use ie the veledrome.
if its not misleading some people are using it for the wrong purpose then arent they.

What are you on about now? Your barb about the cost of the velodrome and yet failure to mention the cost of other venues was wilfully misleading.Originally posted by CJ View Postyes but some sports have alot more backing than the public subsidy, some sports dont.

Frankly I don't see why the cost of Olympic venues should be included for any of them. But since you raised the issue, perhaps you'd care to explain why it's so vitally relevant to whatever point you're trying so desperately to make.
I have no idea what your problem is but all your carping about the achievements of British Cycling is tedious. It is widely recognised (by "widely", I mean by everyone but you, seemingly) that they have done a fantastic job of using the money they have. And the reason they get so much subsidy is because subsidy levels are related to past performance..

the table showed public funding then people were comparing the amount spent per medal for cycling to say diving.
what i am saying is that maybe diving had alot of funding to provide facilities. Also cycling has benifited from funding from sky. so it doesnt provide the whole picture and leads to unfair or misleading comparisons.
if for instance diving or whatever had been funded for new facilities then to make it like for like then you would need to think about the velodrome.
not everything is an attack on your beloved cycling neil.
very simply that table is misleading if your using it to show the cost of every gold medal.
well saying the velodrome and the backing sky have given cycling has helped them is now an attack on cycling well thats a new one

the whole thing is an interesting event, but its not the olympics, its a niche competition for people who, through no fault of their own, cannot compete to the the actual champions. I have no interest in it at all.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostWas just thinking about the Paralympics....to be honest I am not in the least bit interested and it kind of bothers me that I'm not. It's discriminatory, isn't it? Is anyone honestly arsed about it? It doesn't sit easily with me, I feel bad for having zero interest.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years
