I still can't believe that's an Olympic sport.

    What next? Frisbee?
    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

how long does it take to walk from one end to the other of the park ?
I was at the olympic park yesterday. The whole experience was brilliant - the best organised event I've ever been to.

Arrived at 8am and it was quite busy but when the 80,000 went into the stadium and the other thousands into the hockey, basketball ,cycling etc it felt empty. Takes about 15/20 minutes to walk from one end to the other but loads to see and do. Watched Chris Evans interviewing Greg Rutherford (long jump gold) and the Louis Smith/Max Whitlock (gymnasts).

We had tickets for the men's handball at 2.30pm and although it wasn't my first choice - it was brilliant - very physical, shirt tugging, elbows - John Terry would be a natural. The atmosphere was superb. Came out at 5.40pm and watched Kenny win cycling gold on the big screen, then some of the evening athletics.

Lots of olympic tat for sale - not my cup of tea. Food and drink not too expensive - what you would expect - but £4.30 for a bottle of Beer was a taking the piss.

Would have loved to have got into the olympic stadium but amazing just to be outside.

ah right i think we have been lucky in as much we have tickets to a sport we competed in together. and we will see gb. the only thing to make it better is one of the irish lads that is going knows a bloke who just missed out on the gb squad.

also we have done dublin etc so £4.50 for a beer isnt unkown.

was a bit meh about it but thought its a once in a lifetime chance however i saw the flame going past the end of my road and thouhgt oooh this might be a bit special. then finding out i live near wiggins and the bleasdale family (if not the girl herself) and now being only a short time from me being there its getting like a kid waiting for christmas.

Only crap bit of the day was when I took my seat for the handball and found that this was my view of the court - a bloody crash barrier. On speaking to one of the stewards - their first response was that I had been the first to complain about that seat since the start of the games - maybe for some who aren't keen on handball it was the best view

Luckily, no-one took up the seats in front which was the front row on the balcony so no harm done. But, I can't believe they put a seat in that position.
