Are the rules the same for the race as they are for quali?

Suppose thats a bonus. Hulkenburg in Brazil was the last one.

it happened in the last race. Vettel was told to box straight away rather than go round again.

I know, they've made a precident with this penalty IMO though

Always at Hamilton's expense though. Fair enough he's a prima donna, and he doesn't help himself, but he does seem to be on the receiving end more than any of them.

It does seem that way, it's happened and he's just going to have to crack on and do his best, does it mean he can choose which tires to start on now ?

Probably not as he went into Q3

****ing harsh then, especially as you can get into Q3 and not set a time, that should be stopped IMO.

Its happened plenty.Button did it last year,Red bull have done it more than once,Mercedes also did it recently.

Funny thing is,as explained by Gary Anderson on the Beeb,McClaren had loads of time to put the right fuel in but they sent him out light. Another human failure has cost them

McLaren need to revamp their whole race management team. The car design is fantastic and they clearly have the pace, but their race day strategy and management has been a failure since Ron Dennis left.

To be fair to them though,it appears to be less of a 'rule' and more of a verbal advisory from Charlie whiting according to sky so probably a bit harsh on Lewis but when its the pole setting lap the other teams will want action taken.

A grid penalty would have been fair or removing that time and going with his other set time but to the back of the pits is ridiculous

I know it's been done loads at the end of races that's my point, it doesnt get punished but the rules as I understand the require you to get back to the pits on your own steam and provide a sample just some consistency regardless of the team is what is needed. F1 may have made a rod for their own back with this ruling going forwards
