State of that! (Better with sound on as Clifton Mitchell and Lennox Lewis speak about it). All for Tyson Fury! **** sake.
All for a mental advantage.
Unsporting but very very common. Have little doubt that if Fury had not have kicked off that it still would have been removed as it would have slowed Wlad to an even slower pace than he normally fights at. It certainly was not done to slow the tempo of the bout as neither guy tonight is exactly fleet footed. If anything it would have suited Fury to have had Wlad even slower than normal.
Still think it was very odd that it took until today for Fury to kick off as it was there yesterday when he was in the ring. My thinking is still that his people cocked up by not sorting the basics (and I would include **** stirring by Wlad and his team as part of the basics to be dealt with) and that his rants today (and earlier in the week regarding the gloves) were him being played or a poor attempt at turning the **** stirring back on Wlad.
In the comments section even one of Ireland's most canny promoters/managers points to an example of it at local level in Ireland and that was for a fight a number of years back against a Limerick man in Willie Casey.
So Chris and all watching it later. Prediction/best guess time.
Who wins and how.
No shock in who I think will win.
Fury to win by KO in the first round.................................
.
.
Naaaaah
Wlad to win with a stoppage around the 7th or 8th round is my guess. Just think he has too much experience for Fury, and the lack of any real weight difference between them should prevent Fury from pushing him around. I think Wlad is just not far enough over the hill (and he is certainly a bit past his best) to be outfought or out thought tonight.
Big night as well as it gives Fury a chance to mess up Wlad's chance of beating the record set by Joe Louis for title defences. Louis set the record with 25 defences of the heavyweight title and Wlad is on 23. Fury wins and it throws a big bucket of cold water on that. Mad numbers really and the sort of numbers we are unlikely to see in the division again. Lennox Lewis would have been the most recent guy to have had a tilt at those numbers and he finished his career on 14 title defences. Tyson only made 9 title defences during his career to put that into context. Mind you it also puts the calibre of the modern division into context as well.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Many people expect the Fury gameplan to be very movement based, whereas obviously with Vlad he's a plodder and he's just gonna stick that jab out.
Bouncing around on that surface would be a lot quicker to tire the legs out and cause Fury to slow.
That's my interpretation anyway. The times they are a changin'.

Wlad for sure, though I'm really struggling with when, part of me thinks Wlad should have him out of there early, say before the 5th. If an over the hill cruiserweight or the non punching Neven Pajkic are putting you on your arse then well, this is going to end very badly. But on the other side, he's in better shape now, more motivated, clearly has a lot of heart and Wlad isn't exactly against carrying someone through the rounds on occasions (though not nearly as much as the media would make us believe). **** it, I'll stick with early but hopefully it's a good fight whatever happens.
