It was, thats the ****ing issue. Its a sport I love but ffs 118-110, when that card was read I thought "Yeah, thats about how I saw it" then he said "TO CANELO" I nearly fell off my ****ing seat! What the ****?!

I'd say that's the worst decision I can remember. I don't give a ****, the fight flew by and GGG won it by 4.

I had Golovkin winning that comfortably. I can kind of understand the draw, not really, but kind of because there were rounds which I suppose you could have scored to Canelo, but not really, but with the crowd influence. Both were quite inaccurrate for large portions of the fight, however Golovkin was outworking him and his punches had more effect, weight behind them. The handful of times Alvarez landed clearly didn't really have any effect at all. I'm surprised how little body work there was by GGG, I think he'll need to invest more in the body in a rematch which could result in a late stoppage.

Adalaide Byrd is a disgrace and gave the biggest gift decision ever. She gave him nearly every round I guess it was too much to ask for fair judging with a Golden Boy fighter against a foreigner. I know that this will sound bad (and it's not intended in this way) but these absurd scorecards are almost always from female judges. CJ Ross scoring Mayweather vs Canelo a draw despite Canelo landing like 6 punches in the entire fight. Let's get a rematch in Germany - Tom Loeffler get it done.

It is, but I don't think it was shown in this fight, Canelo has nothing behind his shots at this weight. Shows why he's been hiding behind catch weights. I don't think most true middleweights would have difficulty dealing with his power, or lack there of.

It's a **** part of the sport, don't know what can be done. Incompetence and corruption is always an issue with subjective scoring systems. Although I don't get when people say that means that UFC is better or should switch, different sport. I find the most 'exciting' UFC bouts as interesting as watching paint dry. To me it basically looks like homosexual porn with 2 almost naked men rolling together on the ground cuddling each other for long sections of the 'fight' and people throwing elbows to a guy lying on the floor. Just my opinion but for me it's borderline unwatchable. If I'm disillusioned with the controversial nature of the sport I'll stop watching. I don't think it makes other products more attractive.

Bob Arum sums it up perfectly in that interview he did a couple of years ago 'Kelly Pavlik would be the only top tier boxer popular with UFC fans'

              I had it 8 - 4 to GGG

A lot of very close rounds.

118 - 110 is criminal but sadly not unsurprising.

**** knows what Frank Warren was playing at last night putting the Saunders fight on at midnight.

FFS we get a fight between two top fighters and when it ends we get a judge that becomes the centre of attention.

118 - 110 is an absolute joke. Reeks of a scorecard decided regardless of what was happening in the ring.

Golovkin took eight rounds for me, and maybe an arguement could be made that he won by a lesser margin, but think it was clear that he won.

A draw is a terrible result, and even if there is a rematch, Golovkin still will have an undeserved blot on his record.

Only "winner" was Canelo. He avoided getting another L on his record, and he took home the bigger fight purse as well.

I can understand the draw as they were rounds that could have gone either way. You have to remember that whilst Golovkin's work rate was relentless, Canelo was counter punching beautifully and easily had the more eye catching punches.18-110 was scandalous though. It was definitely closer than people think but I have to go against the grain give it to Canelo. I think it depends on what you look for in a fight. Put it this way, had Canelo been Mayweather, he'd have got the decision imo. He was not known to have a high work rate but he always did enough to catch the judges attention due to his counter punching and pot shotting skills. Not all judges go for fighters with high work rate. Let's hope we see a rematch soon and surely next time Golovkin will target the body. It was pretty much non existent last night.

Canelo did counter punch well at times, but a lot of it was not effective counter punching. And by effective I mean it looked like an attempt to grab attention rather than being genuinely attention grabbing. But I will concede that a lot would depend on the perception of the judge watching and whether or not they scored effectiveness over attempt.

Good point as well about not all judges seeing work rate as a defining scoring quality. Sometimes a fighter can be too "busy" for a judge's taste.

I do think that if there is a rematch we will see a lot more pre fight games from Canelo and his people. I can see him looking for it to be at a catchweight and I see more of him refusing to pay sanctioning fees like what was going on before last night's fight. And I can again see him and his people looking for the lion share of the purse again.

Tbf, Ive seen quite a few boxing main events where they manage to do the same, they just prefer the standing up position .

edit: Anyway, lets not get into a childish boxing v ufc debate like those seen on you tube, every single day..

Have to admit I was pretty wrong with this, GGG was back to his best there and absolutely relentless. He looked lifeless in his last couple of fights compared to this one, just shows you what motivation can do.

And yeah, I had it as a GGG win. Its a real shame that such a high quality fight is going to be remembered for the ludicrous scoring of one judge. I mean, I could understand it if she had it as 115-113, but 118-110 is a complete joke

GGG only threw a handful of body punches all night which was a surprise - possibly didn't want to leave himself open to a counter.
No idea how anyone can make a case for Canelo winning more than 4 rounds even with your blinkers on.

I was surprised so many had Canelo tbh, i couldn't see him hurting GGG, reckoned he would really have to out work GGG and be accurate with it to win.

                              Or, have 3 female judges.

Interestingly Canelo was the more accurate hitter in general last night, especially with power shots. Golovkin threw more punches, but Canelo landed a higher % of his own shots.

But don't think Canelo could ever out work Golovkin in a rematch though, GGG is a very different beast when it comes to work rate.
