It'll be interesting to see who he does fight next as tbf to Khan he is genuinely good to watch
Khan changes his bull**** on an almost weekly basis at this point.
He started off saying Pac was stalling over signing a contract. Then Pac's lawyer came out and cleared up that talks had never gotten to a contract stage and invited Khan and his legal people to produce the contract.
So Khan then switched to talking about fighting Garcia.
Which then switched to Peterson.
Which then switched to Brook (who is even less proven and less worthy of a top tier clash)
and now he is back to blustering on about Pac again
It's amazing how most of the other top tier and second tier fighters who want to face the best seem to be able to make fights.
If Khan wanted rematches for his losses against Garcia and Peterson then he could easily have made them. Garcia in particular is not a difficult guy to get a bout against as he seems to want to meet the best challengers.
Guys like Provodnikov, Postol, Matthysse etc were there for Khan to take on if he wanted to try and pad out his record with genuine second tier fighters.
And that is not even thinking of the likes of Bradley and seeing if a bout could be made at Khan's weight.
Khan strikes me as a guy who would rather the biggest pay day over genuine legacy fights. He has talent, enough talent to be able to be able to do both or at least have a very good stab at it, but ever since the loss to Garcia he appears to be gun shy when it comes to the better fighters in and around his weight class.
It is easy to mouth ouff about Mayweather Jr because pretty much every fighter beaten by Mayweather Jr did so before facing him. Losing to Mayweather Jr is pretty much a freebie for any boxer plus it is probably going to be their biggest payday.
I would have preferred to have seen Khan try to clean up the division, and if he had followed that route and was as good as he keeps saying he is, then maybe he would have forced his way into a fight with Mayweather Jr by now and gotten himself a very impressive Pro fight record along the way. I mention Pro record because Khan's record in the unpaid ranks is impressive and is pretty much what he and his handlers should have tried to replicate in the pro ranks imho.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

It does him no favours being a rent a quote.
All it does is bring his record under closer scrutiny. The best fighter he fought beat him, yet Khan keeps going on about having fought the best and often in interviews he goes on about having beat the best.
Is probably too late for him to make the change, but would love to see him try to let his obvious talent do his talking for him, and make a charge at the actual best fighters in his division and the best from the division below if they would come up to meet him.
Someone like Matthysse would be ideal as Matthysse would be a genuine threat.
Heavy hitter, durable, good workrate, aggressive, a good boxer along with being a good brawler. But despite his qualities he is the sort of fighter the very best should be able to get a win against as long as they bring their A game, so if Khan is as good as he likes to say then Matthysse is the sort of mettle proving opponent that he should be seeing off.
Plus Matthysse has a very good rep, and as such is the sort of W the top guys want on their records.
Have a feeling though that Matthysse's hard hitting is enough to make Khan stay away from ever getting in the ring with him, but would be quite impressed if Khan did go after him.
Khan made a comment about how Brook needs to prove himself against better fighters, and Khan is 100% right on that imo, but the exact same still applies to Khan. If Khan wants a Mayweather Jr or a Pac then he should be beating fighters in and about his own level to get there, just as Brook should be beating better fighters in order to earn a crack at Khan.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Hard to believe that Maccarinelli is only 35. Talk about a hype job that was exposed and washed up early in his career.
Jones Jr, despite his current unbeaten run against bums of the month, really has been a health risk to himself for some time now and I dread to think what could happen if the WBU were able to get him into the ring with a live opponent. At 46 or 47 he really has no business being in the ring. Bloody shame to see a fighter like him needing to stay in the ring this long.
Assume it is for Jones Jr's WBU "title". What a horrible organisation the WBU and the promoters mostly associated with it are. They make the other sanctioning bodies and promoters look whiter than white. Even Warren would be embarrassed by their bills.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

It is a WBA sanctioned bout? That is shocking. It is such a terrible example of matchmaking that I felt sure it had to be WBU sanctioned.
Jones Jr is more than a decade removed from when he last should have been considered for "title" or title eliminator bouts as sanctioned by a major body and Enzo was simply never really at that level as he was a warm body rather than ever having been a genuine high level performer.I don't hate people. I agree, I dont think Khan will ever get in the ring with Lucas La Matthysse (unless there was an 8 figure purse to be had) There is no way Khan would expose himself to that world of hurt. Lucas would just hunt him down in the ring and destroy him with his "in your face" boxing style and powerOriginally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostIt does him no favours being a rent a quote.

I think that would be the outcome myself, but Matthysse has a major weakness in that he will often try to take his opponent on at their own game.
If he stuck with an in your face style mixed with his technically sound groundings, then he gives anyone in the division problems, but he often tries to be that bit too clever (to be fair he is technically good enough to get away with it against most fighters) and that has cost him in a few bouts.
He goes jab for jab with jabbers, he becomes a purist at times against technicians, he brawls against brawlers and he goes punch for punch with heavy hitters.
I think that an A game Khan could possibly use a similar gameplan against Matthysse to what Garcia did (albeit a gameplan that took into account that Khan does not absorb headshots like Garcia can), and get a result against Matthysse. He would need to draw Matthysse out and at all costs not get into a proper gunfight with Matthysse.
Khan does have the talent to take on and beat Matthysse level fighters, but what I would question is whether or not he has the mentality to take them on. He does need to beat a heavy hitter and figure out what to do with them though as it is a major weakness of his. I feel that any big hitter from the second tier up would probably has a 50/50 or better chance against Khan whereas I would not be giving the same big hitters a 50/50 or better chance against Garcia, or Bradley due to how those two have learned on the job against big hitters.
Matthysse I do love watching though. Proper old school fighter in terms of mentality, and I always admire a brawler who can box. No shortage of heart in the guy and probably is the most consistent of the second tier guys.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Apparently so! Dreadful hey?Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostIt is a WBA sanctioned bout? That is shocking. It is such a terrible example of matchmaking that I felt sure it had to be WBU sanctioned.

I was hoping there was some mix up but all the press releases are saying the same as there was a press conference yesterday. If this has to be for a strap surely it makes more sense to upgrade Lebedev's next fight to the super one and this for the regular? Not that they are even deserving of that anyway. This sport really doesnt help itself sometimes.

To be honest I despise the whole "super" champion lark and everything similar to it.
Bad enoughthat for each division there has to be a belt for each sanctioning body, but sanctioning bodies having multiple belts for the same division really grinds my gears.
Just makes things even more sordid, and opens things open to even greater levels of ranking fixing and various other corruptions.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
