Thoroughly enjoyed watching him beat up that bum Chisora, I very much enjoyed his win over Ruiz (put him down four times IIRC) and I even enjoyed the win over Valuev. I think he'd beat Fury too.

None of them are much good but I didn't say it was getting good.

Ruiz was a badly shot fighter when they met, and the win over Valuev was one of the dullest fights I have ever seen at heavy and I am saying that as someone who had sat through far too many heavyweight bouts on German cards

Mind you if De La Hoya has his way it should not be too long before there is a new lumbering seven foot heavyweight getting some version of a heavyweight strap. So Taishan Dong can be a new Valuev for ya

I'd agree with shaggy in that, whilst I'm an armchair boxing fan, the heavyweight division is just soooo dire. Klitchsko has just dominated and no one coming through, it's just killed it....

Whilst I totally agree with jaco that the quality isn't there....at least when klitchsko goes, between fury, haye, Joshua, wilder we might see some "decent" heavyweight clashes, worth watching....just a shame price turned out to be totally ****e

Does anyone actually pay £20 for these fights?

Can understand if you're having a few people round, I think ive paid for 4 fights Hattons 2 main fights, Haye v Klitschko and a Lewis fight. Whats the point now with the internet?

I subscribe to BoxNation and I've bought a fair few Sky PPVs the last of which was May vs Pac.

However when Hearn/Sky try and pull a fast one by putting Joshua / Whyte on PPV they can collectively go **** themselves.

the UK based timezone fights can be good viewing in the pub, im not sure I can be arsed to stay up til 4/5am and pay £20 for the pleasure anymore.

I get what you guys are saying about competitive bouts and the sense of excitement give from such, but it would be competitive between lower level fighters rather than competition between genuine high end heavyweights.

Just imagine Wlad stepped down in the morning. The list of names that would then pass for the top tier in his absence really would make for some poor reading.

I find it genuinely amazing that the talent pool for the heavweights is so shallow. I know boxing has taken serious hits in terms of young talented athletes being tempted towards other sports, but in my lifetime I cannot remember a top twenty list as weak as what would make up the current top 20 heavyweight list.

Wilder, Joshua, Fury etc etc. None of those guys really look like they could be a dominant champ. Wilder I think would be beaten by Wlad and that is damning in that a 39yo fighter, albeit one who was a genuine top tier guy, should be seen as the favourite against a younger supposedly monster fighter.

I would favour 39 year old Wlad against the much younger and bigger Fury. Again damning for the younger man.

And I would have the 39 year old Wlad as a huge favourite against Joshua, although that is not really fair on Joshua as he is still quite a green looking fighter.

Would need to be a genuine top notch bout to warrant paying cash for imho.

And there are very few potential pairings about at the moment that would fall under that heading for me.

GGG vs Ward, Ward vs Kovalev, or Kovalev vs GGG (if weight issues could be overcome for two of those bouts) would be three potential bouts that could tempt me to part with cash in order to see them on PPV. Mind you if Ward/GGG was made I think I would be looking at trying to get myself over to see it rather than watching it on tv/on a screen.

Genuine PPV events are the ones in which there is the potential for something special thanks to it being a meeting between two high end fighters whose styles should lead to a gripping encounter.

Anything other than that is, for me anyway, just a promoter trying to line his own pockets through passing off sub par cards as a PPV event.

This weekends fight must be one of the lowest PPV ever surely?

                    Pathetic undercard.

For the sport of boxing it'd be fairly tragic if a fight for the lineal heavyweight championship of the world were to sell less PPVs than the Joshua **** fest in a couple of weeks time

Tyson Fury is threatening to pull out of his world heavyweight title fight against Wladimir Klitschko because the canvas in the ring is too soft, according to his agent.
