Don't buy into all this Shannon Briggs ****, please. It cheapens the sport. Briggs should be no where near a ring with the likes of Joshua or Haye.

He's not had a meaningful fight years. He's utterly irrelevant yet some promoters here are doing their best to put him forward as a viable opponent for the aforementioned.

Another tough opponent for David Haye then

What a con artist. I'm sure he'll brainwash a few again into believing this guy is a dangerous warrior just because he's undefeated and has a 70% KO rate, despite the fact he's faced nobody, only fought outside Switzerland once and his last two opponents have lost 14 times combined.

What after he KO's this guy in 1 round? Briggs...then call out Audley Harrison?

I know what you mean but surely he has to line up a little bit of cannon fodder to start with? Ricky Hatton jumped back in with a fight that was way too tough and he got ruined.

I'm not buying into it, i find the whole thing a joke tbh, comedic value only, apart from it showing the sport up for what it is at times.

Why should we not ban boxing?

By the way I away that as someone who enjoys watching boxing.

Loved the 90s middleweights. Oh and haggler etc before.

Not sure that me liking it is a good reason to accept the damage it does.

You could argue the dangers of almost any sport tbh.

You can but the point of most sports is not to hurt your opponent.

There are plenty of contact sports out there, essentially its down to the individuals participating I guess. It's never good to see someone get hurt but on the whole the safety involved in pro boxing is pretty good these days.

The safety is good but this still happens. Then there is the long term damage to those who survive.

I'm just wondering is it time to look at saying it's not worth it.

It will never happen and likely drive things underground. Better to have the safety in place and done legally

Agreed. It's tough when something like this happens, but it is massively rare and more to the point the greater good that boxing does for great numbers of young aggressive lads from, if you like rougher communities - keeping them off the streets, the discipline etc - far outweighs overall the negative side to it. Difficult when a lad's in a coma, I know, but.....

                              boll-ocks! dupe.

edit: I'll make use of the space anyway, with a nice pic.

It's just the fact that boxers go out to hurt their opponent that seems to be the issue.

As has been said, other sports where the aim isn't to hurt an opponent prove to be more dangerous for those taking part, if we're talking danger and stopping serious injury, should those people be protected from themselves too ?
