One warm up before going after a strap holder is different though. I think if he went and had two, or three easy fights then it could turn into four or five with the hype machine in full flow proclaiming each of those fights as being true tests against "top" fighters.
I think he needs to get back on the horse pretty quickly, and that means getting into the mix with the better guys in the division asap otherwise the same cycle of pushing **** around like a dung beetle starts again.
Get a warm up against a credible but limited fighter and then go all out for Vargas or Brook. Beat one of them and then start calling for a big Vegas bout against another strap holder.
He really has very little to lose at this point in terms of reputation. He already has a track record of getting sparked every time he goes in against a good fighter so the worst that can happen is that he maintains that reputation. But finally getting a win against a good fighter could see him finish his career on a bit of a high and maybe even get him that money fight he so wants against Mayweather jnr (who is pretty sure to return at some point, and who of late has been re-registering and updating a lot of his domain and trademarked names with the number 50 being added in)
