    Anyway today...

    Great ride by Froome. I don't know if the conditions towards the end were harder than for Martin or whether he just faded a little in comparison. But he now has a whopping 3:25 over Valverde in second and more to Contador.

    Mollema did well, as did Kwiatkowski who takes over the white jersey. Quintana though should do better in the second ITT next week.

    Third is a good result for Porte, and should restore some confidence.

    Andy Schleck was very poor but maybe could now be a possibility for a stage win as he's no real threat to the overall now.

    I'd have thought the biggest concern for Froome (assuming his team's collapse on Sunday was a one-off) is that two teams have two riders in the top ten and one team has three. He's going to need his team to help fend off attacks but it means his opponents have plenty of cards to play.

      I really dislike Froome. I've tried but he reminds me of the nurd in the class that everyone hates and gives dead arms to at play time so he stands by the headmasters office.
      Its going to take an enormous effort to make up the time that he has on the other riders but I really hope he doesn't win

        I know what you mean about Froome, he's not very charismatic and seems a bit goody-two-shoes. Everyone who knows him personally says he's a nice guy though - well, maybe Wiggins doesn't but you can't please everybody.

        But Froome is an amazing rider. He's the best climber in the race it seems and pretty much the equal of the world TT champion. His only real weaknesses are relative inexperience and descending, especially in poor conditions. The way he handled being isolated on Sunday suggests maybe he's overcoming the former problem (although some of the credit should go to Nicolas Portal, his DS in the team car). But if it rains and he's isolated on a descent...?

        I hope he wins. His two biggest rivals are Valverde and Contador, both fairly unrepentant dopers. There's no contest which of the three I'd choose to win.

          He's like a machine and has obviously prepared very well. Wiggins was out classed at times last year and in a way holding Froome beck especially on the climbs. I Was really surprised at how well he did in the time trials today and I feel like he will dominate the sport now for a few years. He clearly is the best around at the moment mores the pity.

              Why? He's the Olympic TT bronze medallist and finished second in both ITT's in the Tour last year.

              And he's a stronger, better rider than last year. It's phenomenal certainly but I think he's perfectly credible.

                  i kinda dislike the sky team, seem like the empire in star wars they're just too good, but i've warmed up to froome, since he was isolated in the last mountain stage, he's good on his own and i respect that, fantastic ride today aswell.

                    A broken bone in the shoulder for Boasson Hagen, and the end of the Tour for him. Not good news for Sky, but he isn't very important for them in mountains.

                      eddie bos out, kiriyenka out and thomas not 100%. pressure is on sky to protect froome now

                        It's another blow following on from losing Kiryienka. Boasson Hagen's role this year seems to have been riding at the head of the bunch for Sky earlier in the stage than last year - they're down to seven now and they couldn't handle Garmin's attacks on Sunday when they had nine.

                        Thomas seems to be improving but it's hard to know if he can improve enough.

                          It's a bit shocking to see Cavendish passed by Kittel like that. He had a perfect leadout from Steegmans too.
