Thanjk you.

Seemingly Froome has agreed a new contract with Team Sky until 2016.
Sky has also released all of the data from Froome's climbs over the last 2 years to l'Equipe and they've been analysed to show nothing abnormal. No mjaor gains in all of that time and no big weight changes.
Although there is one big change in the last two years - he hasn't been suffering from bilharzia.
. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
Froome has all but won it as far as I'm concerned. It's been total domination since the start of this tour. If he takes care of himself, he'll win his first tour and I can see him winning it for the next two years, unless Quintana progresses very quickly.

...Hmm, especially his time trialling.
Quintana is about a metre tall and weighs as much as a Malteser. He's going to have to improve in flat ITT's and hope the ASO provide him with a pure climbers' course if he's going to compete with a true all-rounder like Froome.

Don't misunderstand me, I think Quintana is already a star and has a big future but if you're looking for a Colombian to topple Froome in the next three years then you might be better off looking at riders currently at Sky - Urán and Henao.

Yeah good point. You're absolutely right but he's not too bad in time trials. How far behind Froome did he finish the day before - I think it's a bit more than a minute? It all depends anyway - distance, terrain etc ...
Froome beating him as he did in Le Ventoux is quite a feat to be honest. Maybe it's due to his specific training, which maybe Quintana didn't have, what with being a rookie and being quite young.
Froome took 3:16 out of Quintana on the flat ITT to Mont-Saint-Michel and it was only 33km long.
The ITTs in last year's Tour were about 42km and 54km so think how much he'd have lost then.

He won the Basque Tour this year, beating Porte and Henao (who I think was leading the GC at the time) in the TT. I don't recall but I guess there must have been a lot of climbing.
So I think he will be 'big' but like any pure climber he's going to have to rely on a climber-friendly course. This year's is exactly that which is the main reason he's fifth and will probably end up third or fourth. He would probably beat Wiggins on this course.
But against Froome, without a similar course to this year's and a big improvement in flat time trialling (which looks unlikely for physiological reasons), I think he's a better bet for the Giro or the Vuelta.

The lead group is currently six minutes and climbing the third category Rampe de Motty.

Do you think Porte has a chance of being anything other than a super domestique?
