Trust me I want to! But I also want to make sure I get the right one. Going to go to Evans after work, but to be honest I think that's more to get some idea of sizing as I've fallen in love with this bike (and would have to order it online):

The Cube website says that the 18" should be right for me.

Although you won't look like Sir Bradley Wiggins or Baron Hoy of Edinburgh riding that.
      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Neil can you do me a favour and check the sizing guide here:

I'm 5'10.5" ish I make that about 179cm which on that chart suggest an 18" for a mountain bike. Right?

          Yes, looks like a 17-18".

The general rule for a road bike is to avoid getting something too big, i.e. if you're not sure, get smaller rather than larger. The idea is you can make a bike bigger by raising the saddle and getting a longer stem, etc. but if the frame's too big you can't make it smaller.

But I wouldn't have a clue if that logic applies to MTBs.

If you buy over the internet, does it come readymade?

                Excellent. Including pedals?

The website I'm looking on says:

As standard all bikes are built and checked over in our workshop by qualified and experienced cycle mechanics. They are then thoroughly protected and boxed ready for transit. Upon delivery, the bike will need basic assembly, such as pedals, front wheel and handlebars attached. As with all bikes that are bought in our shop, every bike is entitled to a free 4-6 week check-up where we fully service the bike. It is the customers' responsibility to return the bike to us and arrange collection or take it to one of our shops.
                  So I guess that's a yes.

One more question. This bike comes with "Fasten Alu" pedals? Are they what are known as "cleats"? And will I need special shoes for them?

I'd guess they're just standard flat pedals. That's what it looks like in the picture too.

So no, you won't need special shoes (ignoring the fact all shoes for pandas are special).

Argh FFS. Just when I thought I was confident on the size, the website I was looking at buying from seems to suggest I may need the 20"

                          Have a look here:

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjKH8eQumLQ"]How To Put on Bicycle Pedals - YouTube[/ame]

And here (watch it all although a lot isn't directly relevant):

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjnKYp6Uf18"]Installing Bicycle Pedals on your Bike - YouTube[/ame]

I suggest you use some grease on the pedal threads, like the bloke in the second video. I got some teflon grease to install my brother's pedals and that seemed to work fine.

Sizing isn't as straightforward as we'd all imagine. Frame geometries (i.e. the angles) differ and there isn't even consistency between manufacturers on exactly what to measure.

Why can't you find somewhere in the real world that sells this bike? Then you could try it.

Anyway go to Evans and have a try on a few, including different sizes of the same model. It'll give you something to go on at least.

Yeah I've been looking for somewhere to go and try the Cubes. Wasn't having much luck until.... I noticed that website I was looking to order from has a store in Chichester which is quite close, so I've emailed them asking if they have any stock.

                              Cheers for your help Neil.
