Phil Liggett makes a good point about who helped him do this, 500 clean tests over his career, you don't manage that without some serious help!

Armstrong is the big name of course but cycling was rotten to the core it seems during these times and senior officials within the UCI & the tour need serious investigation; obviously Armstrong benefitted hugely from sponsorship deals over the years but the boom in interest for the tour in general was huge off the back of his "success", it wouldn't be a great leap to suggest he was protected by those at the top levels of the sport.

Lets hope these days of EPO are over and we don't see another big name found to be a lying, cheating *******

I'm not really a cycling fan, but I'm watching it out of curiousity.

Armstrong is coming across as a proper cyclepath.

After hearing the stuff he has said today I feel totally betrayed. I dont know why, because I didnt know him, or even really follow the sport when he was winning. But he has lied to the world. Fair enough he cheated, thats by the by. Its sport, ultimately its meaningless. But he lied to make millions of dollars. His charity, although it does great work is all built on a sham career.

He said it didnt feel like cheating at the time. Ok, thats an excuse then.
        *Except Michael, who died.

TL;DR - Yes, I doped. But only outside the statute of limitations. And Floyd can't handle that. Smirk, fat joke, lie, I'm a sociopathic helmet.

If Armstrong hadn't taken the drugs (when so many others were taking them) then he would be in that group of clean cyclists who had won nothing and who we'd be feeling sorry for if only we'd ever heard of them.
If he was competing now I don't think he would be doping because he could compete clean on a level playing field.

That is in no way acceptable reasoning for what he did. 'Everyone Is Doing It' is for me a feable excuse for anything.

Cyclists did ride clean at the time, they didn't win but they didn't cheat their own sport. They may not have fame or glory, but they aren't a disgrace either.

The worst thing for me is that modern cyclists are still going to be questioned for years because of the actions of him and the other cheats from that generation.

That and the fact that even with the court cases he'll make money from a Book or films or something else.

I recall MPs using the same excuses for claiming excessive expenses.

Bring every single one of them down with him, that is probably the only thing that could relive an inkling of his credit.

Would love him to enclose whether be had help from higher places in cycling too.

                                That'll be a massive list.

And he'll save that for a date with the people who will reduce his lifetime ban no doubt.

He knows what he is doing, he did then and he does now.
