I agree, he won’t start the first test but he managed that game well. If Lions don’t win the first test then he has a chance of starting. I wonder if we just play power ball if we beat SA, we need guile as well.

Nobody has had a stinker yet. Lots of encouraging signs and the games will come thick and fast.
No injuries today either which is good.

Haha, funny you would think that

Harris was brilliant today also. Also you could see a lot of signs of Gregor Townsend in the way the backs played today. It’s not typical Gatland rugby.

Gatland or Townsend - it doesn’t matter...... Henshaw has been the best B&I centre this year so he’ll be in regardless

Even with your bias, I don’t disagree with that on Henshaw (not as convinced that it will be Ake and Henshaw), but just listening to Ian McGeechan he said about 7 of what he thought pre tour would be his starting XV ended up being in his actual starting XV and things changed when he got to see combinations in training and in the warm up games. I don’t think there are many positions where there are guaranteed starters.

I’d also say a 9,10,12 of Murray Biggar and Farrell is playing right to the strengths of the boks. Where is the point of difference? It’s where England came unstuck. There are also still 4 more warm up games to come so lots will change through performance and inevitable injury.

No way this thread will provide a consensus on the starting XV that’s is for sure

          Need Cormack to mediate.

          Fascinating start to the tour.

An absolute beast but rotten luck so far - ACL tear less than 10 mins into his debut for Munster then himself, De Allende, CJ and one other made a fire pit BBQ and chucked a can of petrol on it - skin grafts he got burnt so bad

              [ame="https://twitter.com/murray_kinsella/status/1411702639428050952"]https://twitter.com/murray_kinsella/status/1411702639428050952[/ame]

Also read Pieter Steph du Toit was supposed to join Munster to replace CJ but the IRFU blocked it ffs

I read about that fire. Mental. I suspect one or two beers may have been involved!

Thanks for doing my job for me. Petrol on the fire... Terrible braai etiquete. Would hate to see what the meat looked like. I've heard of it before, but disapprove. Up there with spitting brandy on the flames. My one mate used to sometimes put a Bic lighter in the fire when he was pissed. Would think it hilarious wheb everyone got a fright when it exploded. Prick... Or doos in this case.

Also bet it was de Allende.

Yeah I can’t imagine petrol doing much for the flavour of the meat!!!

                          Let alone the Brie

Great defence. Not sure if the guy was running out of gas or thought he could coast. But he needed to look over his left shoulder.

Some tackle that - him or Williams is such a tough call

It is such a strong squad. On Saturday the only players who probably didn't advance their cause (and they weren't exactly bad, they were just quiet) were Rees-Zammit, Jonny Hill, Faletau. Also Farrell (though his kicking was exceptional). Farrell and LRZ got caught out positional and with a missed tackle for one try.

Even guys that came on did well, Daly was really good.

Guys that were brilliant, Adams, Watson, I thought Jamie George was superb and Chris Harris. And Itoje, just a standard game from him, but that is still better than most. Was strange to be watching a team with him and Farrell in it and not be hating them.

Ali Price put a marker down to be replacement scrum half. Finn Russell to cover 10 and who knows with more games/injuries.

Another game on Weds, so we should see the team tomorrow, and I wonder if Saturdays team will start to hint at the starting XV? Huge week ahead.
