    Wiggins is ill.

    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Hmm. Likely I'd say, especially given Cataldo's illness a week or so ago.

          100 professional wins for Cavendish.

I think today settles the issue of whether Wiggins was making excuses, no way would he lose three minutes on a flat stage if it was poor form. But his descending was clearly a major problem again.

It also settles the issue of who Sky ride for now.

It's all over for Wiggins and it weakens Sky as they have only the one credible threat now but the race isn't decided yet. Nibali is in charge clearly but with all this shocking weather any rider might collapse physically in the final week.

Cavendish. 101 professional wins and 40 stage wins in grand tours at just 27. He's incredible.

                    No change to the overall.

                    GC after stage 13.

Well, that's pretty much that, barring accidents and illness or a precipitous drop in form. A great ride from Nibali again who is simply on another level to all his rivals.

It will be intriguing to see how Wiggins approaches Le Tour now and the stance the team as a whole take.

Nibali has been immense in this race, the attack at the end to take more time from Evans and Uran should also have broken any thoughts they might still of harboured of winning the Giro

                          Bloody weather.

Today's stage has been shortened at both ends. It starts after Mont Cenis, instead of before, and now finishes at or just after (I'm not clear which) Valloire between the Télégraphe and the Galibier. All this only helps Nibali, as if he needs it, since it makes the race easier for everyone and gives his rivals, such as they are now, fewer chances to put him under pressure.

And I'm really annoyed because I was looking forward to it as I've ridden these roads and stayed in a village on the road between Mont Cenis and the Télégraphe in 2011.

I agree totally. There's a saying that what happens on the road will decide things and that's probably true for Wiggins. It's a very tricky problem for Brailsford.

That's the second stage changed for the weather now, shame really for the reasons you've already mentioned.

I guess the only small hope is he has a nightmare on the final TT

The other possibility is he doesn't ride of course, interesting to see what happens
