I think this was quite important today for Wiggins, gives him that shot in the arm and something to work with.

It puts him on the front foot but there's ever such a long way to go. Anything might happen before the ITT on Saturday. Although it probably won't.
It's interesting though, he'll probably be in the same position as he was in the Tour - in charge, in front and the man to beat. But the last week in the Giro is much harder than last year's Tour and there are those bonus seconds.
I do think all the work he's done on his explosiveness might be a surprise weapon for him. It'll be fascinating to see if he can respond to the attacks of Nibali, Hesjedal and the rest..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Of course but to take a bit of time early on and show you're in good condition certainly doesn't hurt and just gives the main rivals something to thing about.
Ah yes the bonus seconds, not a great fan of the concept really but I suppose it dangles a carrot to go out and take them.
It's certainly going to be an interesting tour.

I agree about the bonus seconds, it feels wrong. It's odd though, when Prudhomme got rid of them in the Tour a few years ago I thought it would make the racing less interesting. But all that seems to happen now with bonuses is that the explosive climbers wait until really near the end of the final climb to attack so they get a few seconds on the road and then up to twenty in bonuses. It happened in the Giro last year and the Vuelta for the last two years.
Although results suggest that Nibali is the favourite, I agree that Wiggins is in fantastic condition but the TTT doesn't really tell us that. It tells us more about the other four guys he rode in with. And that is revealing because Uran and Henao were both there.
As well as my new favourite rider: Poochio.

Just caught up with it. Yes, you're right, amazing. Strange tactics by Hesjedal, got to wonder if he'll pay for efforts like that. He got the 8 seconds bonus but he could have had that without all that attacking, up and down.
Sky is probably more than happy to have lost the lead. Poochio.

GC after stage 4.
No code has to be inserted here.I'm not really sure what happened to Wiggins. He had already been distanced before the end and then was got delayed behind a crash. So either a f*ck up or a sign he's not quite as good as we all thought.
It may not be significant but it's a boost for Nibali and Hesjedal. And Evans...only kidding, I can't see him winning, he's only here because BMC are going with Van Garderen for the Tour..

It hasn't been announced but that's my guess. Evans has been saying he's going for the Tour and then suddenly the team tell him to prepare for riding the Giro.
2 + 2 = 4
Although Arn's formula is:
2 + 2 = 13756.132259+7.6i

Except 2+2 doesn't equal that.
Yes, he's a rider on the up. Maybe this year's too soon for him but he's definitely going to have what it takes to win a Grand Tour some day..

Yes. It has to be said though that Van Garderen, who's only nine months older, is way ahead of him right now.
Sky's highlights programme is definitely worth watching. Although the rain meant that Orla Chennaoui was well wrapped up in an anorak today which is of course very sensible...
