Back to cycling! I think it's good news for Wiggins and Sky as a whole that there is now a rest day, I would imagine having to drag him back into the peloton took quite a bit out of them today.

Good for Sky, not so good for me. I'll have to find something else to do.

I'm sure they'll all be glad of the rest after the last few days and the generally sh*tty conditions.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I've found something else to do. I'm watching the Tour of California.

25km of stage 1 to go. I'm willing to go out on a limb here and predict Sagan will win this stage and Van Garderen will win the overall.

Andy Schleck looks to be riding a lot better than he has for a long time.

And, as I predicted, Sagan won the bunch sprint.

          But...

Two riders made a break about 5km out and held on for the win. Westra first, Mancebo second.

Not Pro Cycling related but a female Ironman contestant was killed at the weekend here in Cairns by a drunk driver. ****ing waste of a life that is. Cunt.

It's shaken me a bit as I cycle that stretch of road too.

Driver was a 19 year old P plater.

Uran wins the stage at the giro...

surely Bradley now is a support role

                  Comment

It looks like Wiggins hasn't got it but they're so close it just means Sky have a stronger pair of cards than before in that Urán is a more credible challenger than before. The only thing against Urán becoming team leader is the rumour that he's off at the end of the year but I doubt that's significant in how Sky choose their strategy from now on.

Certainly if I were Nibali I'd pay more attention to Urán than Wiggins, and even more so if the weather turns bad again.

Wiggins hasn't got it has he, got to say Nibali looked pretty comfortable today

Yeah, Nibali is peerless. Evans is riding much better than expected but I still think he can't beat Nibali. Of course that doesn't mean he can't win it, it just means he won't if Nibali doesn't have some serious bad luck.

Sagan won stage 3 of the Tour of California. Entirely as I predicted in my head.

Van Garderen is in second, 12 seconds behind Janier Acevedo, a Colombian climber who I haven't heard of before. I assume Van Garderen is the better time triallist so should take the overall lead as a result of Friday's ITT and then it's a question of not losing time to anyone significant on Saturday's ascent of Mount Diablo, where the final 500m are at 17%.

Navardauskas solos to a win from the breakaway.

Intxausti gains a few seconds in the final kilometre to grab a few seconds and jump up from 11th.

                                GC after stage 11.
