If he doesn't ride the Tour then maybe he'll aim for the Giro and where would that leave Porte?

The only other goal really is the world championship TT but (a) Martin is tough competition as that's probably his goal for the whole season and (b) it's not really enough for a TdF winner.

There's an outside chance he might for the hour record I suppose.

The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I don't know really but you get the distinct feeling he really doesn't want to ride as a number 2 to anyone hence wondering if things don't go his way with SKY that he doesn't ride.

Wow, an epic win for Visconti.

In the end they rode the whole course except the finish was brought down 4km from the top of the Galibier. Lightweights.

Betancur has nabbed the white jersey off Majka thanks to the 12 second bonus for finishing second with Niemiec getting 8 seconds for finishing third, just ahead of Majka. It seems the battles for white and red might be a lot more interesting than the GC. Still, you never know.

        GC after stage 15.

          Tour of California.

Sagan wins the final stage and takes the green jersey.

Van Garderen won the TT and takes the GC.

Intxausti wins from a small group. Santambrogio loses over two minutes to slip down to sixth overall; Pozzovivo also loses time and drops a place.

Another win for Movistar. What are they putting in their tea?

Maybe the same as what Cobo had when he won the Vuelta in 2011.

Cavendish holds on to the red jersey by just four points. No way he's going to win it if Evans finishes the race.

              GC after stage 17.

It was predictable Nibali would win today, but not that he would win by quite so much. A bad day for Evans, who lost 1:10 to UrĂ¡n and 2:36 to Nibali, and a good one for Sanchez who moves up to tenth.

The course made for an interesting race. The intermediate times weren't always a reliable guide to final positions as some rode a fast first half and a slower second (e.g. Scarponi) and some a slow first and faster second (UrĂ¡n). Evans though was slow in both while Nibali was, I imagine, fastest for each half.

                Stage 18 result.

Stage 19 has been cancelled due to snow, with forecasts of -20C on the Stelvio.

I'm there in a month so I hope it warms up a bit.

Di Luca has tested positive for EPO in an out-of-competition test a month ago.

                    Well, there's a surprise.

A famous win for Nibali. An incredible finish. UrĂ¡n takes second and Betancur wins the white jersey.

The cancellation of Friday's stage, and Evans' collapse on Thursday and yesterday (supposedly he had a gear selection problem on the final climb) means he's no longer a threat to Cavendish. Nibali is though. Assuming Nibali doesn't win any points today, which is likely, Cavendish needs to finish fifth or better to win red. He's eleven points behind Nibali so winning both intermediate sprints would put him ahead and take the pressure off the finishing sprint. That scenario may well determine how today's stage goes.

                      GC after stage 20.

Watched the highlights on Sky this morning, wow what a ride from Nibali is such shocking conditions, pretty sure a fully fit Wiggins wouldn't have got the better of him in this race.

Impressed with Uban as well btw done really well since taking over as team leader and to finish 2nd is a really impressive feat

Come on Cav for the red jersey!!
