And the points jersey too (thanks to winning both intermediate sprints, he didn't need to score in the finish but of course he still did), meaning he's won it in all three Grand Tours. Incredible.
And a fantastic win for Nibali too.
Final GC.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Hey Casemore, did you hear the other day that BMC have supposedly decided that Evans, not Van Garderen, will lead the team at the Tour?
Even if we do believe Evans when he says the reason he collapsed in the final week here was because he was so underprepared for the race, I'm surprised they've done it, partly because, er, he's just done three incredibly difficult weeks at the Giro.
I wouldn't be surprised if the plan changes at some point before, or more probably during, the Tour..

At the current rate he'll overhaul Merckx's total by the time he's 32. It's incredible.
He's got 101 professional wins. Second on the all-time list of professional wins by British riders is Chris Boardman. He's got 41, the same number of wins Cavendish has got in Grand Tours..

I don't think I agree. Cyclists aren't all the same. He's the greatest sprinter of his generation and one of the greatest of all time. That makes him a great rider.
It's much the same for Cancellara.
It's not a perfect analogy but Buffon is a great keeper. No one thinks any the less of him for the fact he doesn't score a lot of goals.

Yeah, among the general public he's probably underappreciated. Not within cycling though.
Yes, the standard will be higher. I'm looking forward in particular to seeing how Kittel does against him. The Argos Shimano leadout train is very effective.
Sagan beat Cavendish in a flat sprint earlier this season but IIRC Cav was a little boxed in. I think, on form, Cavendish would still win nine times out of ten against him..

Should be good to watch, there are going to be a few interesting battles how will Froome and Wiggins approach things and then you've got the likes of Contador, Rodriguez and Schlek to consider. Certainly don't see Sky having it all their own way this year at all and what if anything can Nibali bring to this ?
And of course you've then got the points classification with Sagan and Cav as the obvious main contenders for it.

I doubt Schleck will be a factor. Given his brother's positive test and his own continuing failure to get back to anything like he was, it makes you wonder...
Similarly Nibali has been very firm he's not going for the Tour but concentrating on the world championships in Florence.
But I agree there are still loads of plots and sub-plots and I think it's going to be very exciting.
The Critérium du Dauphiné starts on Sunday. From the ASO site:

This would resolve an issue I guess.
Report: Wiggins to miss Tour de France?
By: Cycling NewsPublished: May 31, 09:46, Updated: May 31, 10:29
Race:Tour de France
Bradley Wiggins (Sky) could miss the Tour de France, according to reports in Gazzetta dello Sport and the Daily Mail on Friday. The defending Tour champion withdrew from the Giro d’Italia ahead of stage 13 citing a chest infection and a knee injury.
Wiggins will not ride the Critérium du Dauphiné, which gets underway on Sunday, and the Daily Mail reports that he is “making slow progress” in his bid to recover from the ailments that cut short his Giro bid. Gazzetta dello Sport points to Wiggins’ troublesome knee, in particular, as hampering his progress. The Englishman was said to be afflicted by tendonitis in his left knee during the Giro.
"With these setbacks I can confirm that Brad cannot currently train properly and we are monitoring this situation carefully," Sky manager Dave Brailsford told The Guardian on Friday morning.
Prior to the Giro, there had been speculation that Wiggins would race the Route du Sud [June 13-16] as his final preparation race for the Tour, but after he failed to finish the Italian race, it was assumed that his pre-Tour tune-up would take place at the Dauphiné or the Tour de Suisse [June 8-16].
A spokesperson for Sky told the Daily Mail that the Tour de Suisse team will be announced early next week and that no decision has been taken on the Tour de France squad.
Chris Froome, second overall last year, is set to lead Sky’s Tour team after an impressive opening to the 2013 season that has seen him capture the Tour of Oman, Critérium International and Tour de Romandie.
Although Wiggins had spoken of aiming for a Giro-Tour double at a press conference in early May, Dave Brailsford confirmed shortly afterwards that Froome would indeed be the leader in July.

that's really impressive! Some way off Merx still but he could get close I think.
