DRS debate aside, the umpires in this series have been shocking.

Umpiring has been pretty terrible. They've made far too many howlers, both out on and off the field. Get some new ones in coz these ones are hopeless.

You're never far from an Australian collapse and I think keeping them to 400 is a real possibility. If we get to about parity then I'd back us to win, especially as batting conditions deteriorate. It was pretty flat out there today and if the ball starts swinging under overcast conditions then Australia will struggle (certainly more than England).

Anyone watch The Verdict tonight? Bob was on fire ...and I completely agree with him over that 'umpire's call' bollocks in DRS. If it's hitting a stump full it's got to be out. Move 'the line', as it were, to only clipping - not bang in the centre of the stump - and if they're hitting flush like today then it is out.

That aside I had no issues with DRS again today - it is human error (or "total, total incompetence" as Bob called it tonight ) that has been the problem.

This is the first day that Oz have won in the series (I think) and it should be a good wake up for our lads tomorrow.

Cook, Trott and KP are all due a score so hopefully we can post some sort of total after getting them out early.

Bob also made the point that you should keep your referral if it goes to umpire's call and it's not out, which again I totally agree with. Umpire's call means it's hitting, but if he's given not out it's pretty harsh to lose a review too.
