Didn't they have another umpire trying out the system but sat a van basically on his own - the idea being that he gets 8 direct feeds apaprently rather than relying on TV companies to provide the footage. It'd also mean that the decision doesn't have to be shown on TV

How would that work in somewhere like India or the West Indies? Its such huge distances between games, that getting a truck to each ground would be a logistical nightmare.

Yeah - that's basically what it is.

They seem to think that by having full control over streams it would make the decisions quicker as well.

It would be interesting if we get to a point where we have 3rd Umpires who are specialised - who never actually Umpire games.
