Back is healing well- back up to 3 sets of 3 at 180K on deadlift (my old 5 rep max), so the osteo is really encouraged. Squats are back up to 5@ 142.5K & even tried a heavy one the other week (160K), which I managed even tho not lifting heavy for a while.

Pretty chuffed since the osteo was wary of telling me I could ever get back to the same place I was- at least now Im in the same ballpark.

Also, I finally got a 100K (overhead) pushpress a couple of weeks ago which is a PB.
    3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Started training for the Bristol half a couple of weeks ago on a 12 week plan. Bloody hard at the best of times but in this heat, killer!

I thought I'd do the local parkrun on Saturday as a gentle 5K. Unfortunately, the competitive instinct kicked in and I couldnt deal with half the people there overtaking me at a gentle pace so pushed a bit too hard. On the plus side, totty-watch whilst out and about running is far better in this weather

It's really nice to be able to go running at 6am in this weather.

Just under four weeks until my hundred miler. Did some good rides on holiday but probably have put on a couple of kilos.

Chicken and salad and lots of training rides in the next two weeks.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

**** me its hard in this weather, I am finding myself getting up early and running before 7/8am to get it in.

Your quest for 10k sounds like mine for 5k at the moment. Its only a little more but it seems a long way off.
It is hard Alex, keep at it. I'm a complete novice at running and in my mid-40s so not looking to break any records but I'm speeding up, increasing distance very slowly and seem to be coping slightly better each time. Went out at 6am this morning with my neighbour and she reckons she can hear my breathing becoming much less laboured.

I tell you what though, marathon runners are beyond amazing. I can't comprehend being able to run at the pace they do let alone sustain it for 26 miles. Wow

Did you do the Herne Hill to Box Hill one a couple of weeks ago? Mate of mine is doing half the Tour de France distance in 33 days. I think he said it was 1,300 miles. He's on schedule

I know what you mean mate. 26 miles seems a long way off. But everyone I have spoken too reckons it happens naturally. Just sort of do longer and longer and before you know it you are ready for it.

                            That's a lot of miles.

No, I didn't do that one. I don't do many of them actually, I'm not sure why.

I employ a team to do that now. It was just getting too much work.
