Its not all about losing weight though is it? Id guess as you have started running you will be alot fitter, and healthier as a result.

If you're exercising then you'll be building muscle.Originally posted by RoadEnd View PostI started running - couch to 5K - 2 weeks ago and have cut down on my calorie intake. Not drinking any significant alcohol either. I weighed myself today after 2 weeks and I haven't lost a single lb. WTF is all that about.
Muscle weighs more than fat.
So you may actually have burned fat but added muscle hence the reason you've not actually lost weight as such.
Common mistake that most people make when they start exercising.
Stick with it and you'll notice the benefits.

No idea what would have caused it, but you should always warm up properly. You will get injured otherwise. Also, if you are not used to it, 5k from couch is actually quite a big jump and can lead to injuries. It is better to build up incrementally. It is better to do some exercise and be comfortable than over do it and be injured.Originally posted by RoadEnd View PostThanks - just felt a bit demotivated after a couple of weeks. I had to stop my run half way yesterday as my left calf felt quite painful. Is that a result of not warming up properly, my running style or something else?
How old are you, if you don't mind me asking? The older you get, the above applies even more.
And stick at it.
Oh I don't know.

couch to 5k is a programme type set out over a few weeks. not just getting off your arse and running 5k
I've got a 5km run on at 4am Saturday morning. Working til 10 tomorrow night, sleep for 3 hours, go do the run, back to sleep for 2 hours, in work at 10am Saturday.
Woop ****ing woop.Contrary to popular belief, I have huge genitals.

Going well for me now, lost 6Kgs since I started and been going to the gym 3/4 times a week for the last 3 weeks. Starting to feel the benefit now, my knees are easing up too. I think they were aching because I piled on the weight quickly.
Question for anyone that knows though. If while down the gym should I mix up my cardio? Because I enjoy the cycling, and could do it the whole time. Or should I do others to mix it up? I've always assumed cardio was cardio.*Except Michael, who died.

That personal trainer guy I was talking about earlier. The one Matt dismissed as being full of ****. Well he runs these bootcamps for guys and girls over 30. He's just put up a load of before and after pictures for a loads of people who go - you should see the difference. ****ing incredible.
I'm definitely getting back into the fitness thing now.K ris90210
