Back on it this week after being ill last week. Don't think I put anything on last week which is good.

Well my estimate was on the low side, ive cut down a lot the past 3 weeks yet I must have drank 30+ plus on 4 day/nights out in that timeOriginally posted by RedReet View PostDefinitely my Achilles heel. I can easily starve myself for long periods, run myself into the ground at the gym, do anything to lose weight bar giving up the booze. I used to be content that I could drink heavily every day and still keep in decent shape, but now that I’ve cut my boozing down I’d like to see a few noticeable results. Even at that, my reduced rate is still at least 3 times your weekly average and I know I’ll still regularly go through periods were I’ll drink every day for a few weeks. I’ve tried to be calorie conscious for a while and have cut back on a lot of things, but I’ve purposely avoided finding out the amount of calories in beer as it will be seriously demoralizing.

I'm using the Holland and Barrett own brand capsules.Originally posted by baitman View Postthe seven seas ones do seem to have the fishy after taste. i now use the own brand ones from asda. best taken just before some food.
i did take a couple of courses of glucosamine for joint pain but i couldnt see any difference?
I've only been taking them for just over a week so i've not noticed any difference.
On another note i ran my first 10k race last week. Got another tomorrow evening. Gebreselassie's got nothing to worry about
At the start of the year running 10k was on my 'to do list' and this time last year i couldn't have run a full 10k. Thinking about a half marathon for next year with a ultimate goal being a full marathon before i hit 40.

Been eating it daily since the start of the year. I'm 43 and had my first cholesterol test a while back. Recently I had another blood test and they took the cholesterol level again to find out if I'd improved. It had by 0.2 but is still over 6. They called me back in and did the heart attack risk analysis and I'm at a 2% risk. Apparently that's good so I'm going to continue to eat **** and drink lots
Mr Nice - I'm 5'10" and 87kg. Need to do a bit to get to my dream weight of 80kg

I have also dropped weight since Xmas (albeit through stress & misfortune than a planned routine). I'm 36 & 5'7" & have dropped from 93K to 87K, whilst not really losing strength & getting the flat stomach Ive not had in many many years. Here are my current 5 & 1 rep maxes:Originally posted by MrNice View PostWell when you have been 92kg, 84 is quite an achievement, I have been hovering around 88, then 86 for about a year, and never below 86 no matter how much excerise i do, and usually I do quite a lot. At 5,11, 38 years old to hit 84 and beginnings of a 6 pack i am quite pleased with myself, but then again I was born quite pleased with myself
Squat: 5x145K, 1x160K.
Deadlift: 5x177.5K, 1x200K.
Bench: 5x110K, 1x125K
Shoulderpress: 5x80K, 1x90K
I tend to test my 1 rep max after doing sets of 5s, so they are probably a little higher than that in reality cos of fatigue.
Definitely more in the lower body stuff, but tore my hammy last year sprinting (& slipped a disk 25 years ago), so have to be careful. Got some new chalk the other day, so that should help me top out 200K on the deadlift finally cos grip is a limiting factor as I dont use straps.
The following lifts are pretty technical & should be higher but I need to learn them properly:
Muscle Cleans: 5x85K, 3x90K
Push Press (overhead): 1x95K
I did go to a few Olympic lifting lessons last year but then they'd stopped being at a good time for me by the time my hammy recovered.
Anyone else into lifting?3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Have lifted weights for years but only really started focussing on them properly when I quit TaeKwondo (NOT the terrible Olympic type) a few years back & wanted a new endorphin hit.
I've been training for strength more scientifically since about 2008. I'm not naturally strong or fit, just have worked really hard & consistently, so aye, I am chuffed with those lifts. You always wanna get stronger though!3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Visited my GP as I still couldn't understand why I was not losing weight after 6 weeks of running every other day and reducing calorie intake. Apparently, I have reduced my calorie intake far too low and this causes the body to reduce it metabolic rate and effectively go into "starvation" mode. After exercise, my net calorie intake was barely over 1,000. The simple statement of eat less and exercise more is actually not entirely correct.
The other thing that I needed to do was more resistance and weight training in between the cardiovascular exercise.
