Not ditched them. But I have only been 2 times in the last 2 weeks. Partly because I got a new pair of trainers that gave me blisters. But mainly due to all motivation draining out of me.

I did a few weeks of 3 mornings a week and started to enjoy it. But that soon stopped. Need to get back into it. I was starting to build a level of fitness too, which has gone now

My weight has gone up loads in the last 2 years. Its a slide that needs to be reversed.

I go Cycling once a week at the moment. But the Gym is my best option for me. I hate running and swimming, and the reason the football has stopped is because I am so unfit. Nothing worse than blowing out your arse after 5 minutes. Used to play twice a week. Me stopping definitely is a big part of the weight coming on.

Mind you, a load of mates play squash a few times a week, so I might try and get involved in that.

I find the only way to get fit at football is to play it. Other exercise helps of course, but there is nothing like playing regularly to get you up to speed. Sure, it is painful and even embarassing to begin with, but I notice the difference / improvement after just a couple of weeks. And you can always go in goal when you get tired.
        Oh I don't know.

Very easy to fall out of it but a rest is not a bad thing if you can get back into it afterwards.

Do you do the same exercises/routine when you go? If so try varying it up or see if they can put together a program for you?

I couldn't do the early morning thing though I hate the mornings

Mornings are not totally the issue. I think its motivation. I try to mix it up when I go, quick bursts on most of the machines, and a few different sets on the weights machines. I dunno, I am going to get back into it from tomorrow morning. Really try and go at.

You're right on the Football point Dom. Trouble is the group of lads who used to play every week have stopped, and its once a month at most now. I don't really fancy joining a group of strangers for a kick about either. I find they tend to get way way to aggressive.

Have a look in gumtree for a friendly kickabout. If it's full of crazy psychos, just don't go again. It's a good way of meeting new people too, which is nice.

Had a food intolerance test this morning and found out I can't eat any sugary, starchy foods for the next 3 months.

No fruit, can't eat some veg, no chocolates, cakes, bacon, gravy, potatoes, bread, cheese, normal Cravendale milk, sausages etc.

Got to go on an Anti-Candida diet. Not impressed as it means Christmas will be a bit dull foodwise.

What led to you having that test?

If you don't mind me asking.

Everytime I ate stuff like ice-cream, cakes or even a simple chillie con carne, I'd start burning up. It's not a typical sugar rush you get, but one where you start to itch. I've got really bad eczema, and it seemed to coincide with when I got bloating, sharp stomach cramps and diarrhea. Even eating brown bread or wheat gave me the ****s. First, I thought I was intolerant to wheat and gluten, but the list of foods kept increasing, so I thought it must be more.

I knew it had to be something I was eating, and the doctors did bugger all, except claim my blood tests were normal, so I went private and found a list of things that my body isn't liking. Sugar came out on top. They think it's temporary, so I am sticking to this diet big time.

On the plus side, you'll lose a lot of body fat with a diet like that.

Started training in the gym again last night. 30 mins on the elliptical cross country trainer and 20 mins rowing. Going back again this evening

Same again for me tonight, I'm knackered now. But it is worth going just to see the talent down there getting hot and sweaty

Any good protein shake tips chaps? I don't want to build mass, just take on board some good quality protein in between meals. I use the gym 4 to 5 times a week, lots of dynamic weights work.
                          ON THE COUCH...

Get yourself a good quality whey protein. Types of protein:
                            1) casein - milk protein, slow digesting.
                            2) concentrate - general protein, tends to have bit more carbs/fat content.
                            3) isolate - 90% pure protein, fast digesting so good post workout but will tend to cost a little more.
A good protein should include a proportion of each just so you get a fast, medium & slow release of amino acids into the blood stream through recovery. Check myprotein.co.uk for good quality protein powders at cheap prices!
Or maybe consider taking 10-20g of BCAA's post workout to help recovery.
