Not sure mate. I had about a 2 year break from exercise and then started again in Oct '11. Upto May '12 I trained 3 times per week but had loads of protein shakes, was as fat as anything. Ridiculous.

From May '12 I started a circuit routine with weights having got a few tips off a tranier there. Was doing splits of shoulders and back one one day where I'd do 15 reps of a shoulder exercise, then straight onto 15 of a back exercise. Was doing biceps and triceps on another day then chest and legs a different day. Built in 2 days of pure cardio. Even the weights days had cardio and stomach work built in. Ended up losing 4 stone in weight. Also went to low carbs for that period

I've amended the above now and do higher weights and less reps. I eat pretty healthy. Keep carbs and junk down. I'll have one dessert per week and one pig out on some junk per week and that's it. But i've started to put carbs back in as I was shattered doing 5 sessions on low carbs. My Weds and Thurs and Sat sessions are about 1hr 45 mins and they're pretty much non-stop.

Maybe it's over-training. In general I feel pretty comfortable and happy with the weight. Could do with trimming down the sides (which I've always had), but just think for the amount of effort I put in, I could look better

Or maybe as my missus says, I've got Body dysmorphia

Maybe up the intensity mate and shorten the time you ar ein the gym if that makes sense. I used to have long gym sessions (about 2 hours) but when I joined a gym near my office I used to go at lunchtime and spend about 45 mins in there full out. Results were markedly better in a shorter space of time. Not that I looked like Arnie or anything, I just felt a lot trimmer and 'tighter'* (*said in a Goldmember voice).

I know what you mean. I may cut down the no. of exercises and increase weight/intensity of the ones I do. Worth giving it a try for a few weeks and see how it goes

Just don't use the time you save to go Nandos.

Do you change the routines or follow this same pattern week in week out?

If it's the latter, try changing the routines up as your body can quickly get used to a set workload. Also attack your legs as well as your stomach.

Nah, I change it up regularly. Don't always stick to the same exercises. The no. of sets stay the same but exercises differ. I think maybe I need to reduce the number of exercises as Tee says but increase the weight/intensity

Agree on legs. I'm so lazy when it comes to leg training. I don't think my training is that bad as I'm increasing what i lift weekly and lifting more than I've ever done before. i've started pushing myself a lot more but I think I'm adversely affected by carbs. Put too much on with carbs

                    Not literally.
                    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

It sounds like a daft question but what is your training goal?

Are you wanting to lose weight? Gain muscle mass? Tone up? General endurance and fitness?

It could massively affect the training and refueling requirements and therefore the outcome.

I'm not really wanting to lose weight anymore. I think the only part of the body I'm disappointed with is the stomach and sides. I need to trim that area down. Even when I lost the significant weight, i've never been able to properly shift that. I'm gaining mass on arms, shoulders and chest. The chest could do with toning up slightly

I bet that doesn't really make it much clearer does it
