under 30 mins would be a decent achievement.

My ultimate aim is to get under 25 minutes. Needed to set myself that to avoid the thing that happened last time

25:53 in bad conditions and I'm old and I'm heavy. YOU CAN DO IT!

i remember reading somewhere that a decent 'average' was running at pace of 1km every 5 to 6 mins - so anyway between 25 mins and 30 mins is pretty good - people who go faster than 25 mins would be more experienced runners

i'm sure one of the others will know a bit more.

            6.2mph is a 30min 5k
            7.4mph is a 25min 5k

            Think I'm somewhere in between

****ers that win 10000m are essentially spring ting the whole way. Except for the last bit where they sprint faster.

I've trained myself to speed up for the last km of any run and even on days where I'm suff ring the whole way, it kicks in automatically. Interval training is seriously beneficial.

Cheeky little 7.2 miler tonight. Awesome condition for it. Kept the time steady at 7:19/mile. I've lopped 10 seconds a mile of my average since I started snowboarding! No idea how that works

                    Rowan: 40.7km
                    Pablo: 17.91km

                    RoadEnd: 11.4km

                    Alex 7.2km

A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Maybe the snowboarding really sorted out your core?

That's all I can think of. And I suppose holding my edge is like a constant squat. It's pretty far out how this stuff is all connected.

I had been using cardiotrainer until I changed my phone and just never made up new playlists on the new one. I found it great even though I didn't wholly trust it. It told me I ran from Dublin to the Mali border and back once. I'm almost 100% certain I didn't cos it was when the war was on there and I didn't notice any conflict so I reckon it was a satellite ****up. Just back from an 8k run which I did in just under 49 mins. Have had 8 days of nothing though so I felt it a bit. 5 or 6 days off and I've often felt great. Any more and I lose a little bit.

I thought it was just about getting off your couch and running 5k straight off, didn't realise it was an actual training regime.
