Feeling better every time I go out. Absolutely smashed it down for the last 15 minutes of the run. I was drenched.
I'm not, I'm feeling worse every time I go out!

Only joking, felt a bit better today but my right calf is getting very sore whilst running and I've noticed what almost look like varicose veins coming out of my calf, could this be having an effect on the blood flow to the calf muscle do you think?

Apart from that I felt far fitter in the last 10 minutes today however my minute mile was just over 11 minutes so not very quick at all. It was a gorgeous day for a run though.

Went down the RSPB nature reserve in Conwy which runs parallel with the mouth of the river and the start of the Conwy Valley and Snowdonia, it's such a beautiful run. Love listening to the sea and the wading birds on the estuary it makes the run so much more enjoyable.

    I sound like a right gimp don't I.

Plyometrics are fantastic for building core strength and speeding up your movement. I'm just too ****ing lazy to do it.

I thought you shouldn't do isolation routines when starting out?

I bulked up fairly quickly as I was bulky to start with. Isolation exercises help define the muscle, compound exercises help build it. I'm past the building part (don't want to be too big) so now it's all about shape, for me anyway.

Ah so I'm not wrong it trying to find a compound exercise routine?

                          Any routines I can follow?

The basics like Squats, Deadlifts and Bench presses should be used as a starter. I'll look later to see what I was doing and post them up

Benches will do chest and shoulders and a bit of triceps

Squats will do thighs, bum, hamstrings and calf - some abdomen work if you clench, whilst squatting...worked for me anyway. I used to use a machine to squat as opposed to free weights so I could go up to the balls of my fee and really work the calf muscles then back down to standing.

Deadlifts will do back and legs as well - I used to do a slight variation to the deadlift where I lifted as a normal deadlift but then took it up into a full shrug...then back down to the ground, so that did legs, back and neck.

Have a read at this to know the basics.

Before lifting heavy weights, spend a session in teh gym or at home with just the dumbel or barbell bar itself and no weight. Get your form right so that when you move to putting weights on the bar, you get the maximum impact from the exercise.

I see students swinging their arms trying to lift FAR too heavy weights, just to try and impress the females in the gym and it's cringeworthy. Proper form will protect you from injury and will give you the best results from your workout.

Take a session to go over all the exercises with the bar alone. Get your body in the right shape, use a mirror to see if your'e bending too much or leaning too much to one side etc
