7 and a bit miles to blast away the day and set me up for XC tomorrow. Some good numbers banked this month by all. Quality feb from EST
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Start as I mean to go on, want to beat last months distance, which I should do comfortably, as I had 5 or so days off in the middle from illness.
My Km times are getting better too. Was running at a 5m40s pace this morning. So I need to shave around 40 off to achieve my goal long term.
2 weeks left of this C25K then ill be after doing some park runs
*Except Michael, who died.

PTP - Just wanted to say thank you for the posts you put on a few days ago encouraging me to go running as soon as I get in from work.
I'm not feeling too good at the moment and have a bit of a cold too so not feeling up for doing anything right now however, as soon I'm feeling better I'm going to do exactly what you advised and that is to head off out as soon as I'm home, before I've had anything to eat or any time to settle so I will take the advice on board.
Thanks.Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

Always, keep your face to the sun, and shadows will fall behind you.

Lifted big on dead for the first time post injury and got 205K- a new PB. Reckon there was another 5K+ in the tank too but wasn't taking the risk of another injury. Will try again in a few weeks. Have a vid, but I'd need to host it somewhere I think?
That's 3 new PBs this week- 3x160 squat, this & 5x112.5 bench.
3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Got ****ing brutalised at cross country. Great fun but a mutha****er of a course. Ended up getting round in 44 minutes but felt smashed on the last lap.
Only one race left this season. I'll miss it!A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Parkrun this morning. Got my time through 24:59.

My target is 24 mins atm. I have a pb of 24:16 and trying to follow the sub 24 minute parkrunners, using them as pacemakers. I try to keep a steady pace for 4.5km and then a real push for the last 500m. We have a guy who unofficially calls out times as you get to the last bend with 250m to go and that's a real motivation if you're close.

A canny blustery 7 miles tonight. Should have probably gone further but with my wind jacket on it felt like I had a parachute strapped to my back most the way round.
Anyone signed up for any races this year? Aside from the still very commendable parkruns that is?A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Dunno if there is a science to it. If the gradient is steep I tend to suffer overall because you'll be slowed down on the way up but equally downhills you need to take the edge off (unless it's the last stretch of across country in which case you'll go nuts out).Originally posted by Saveloy View PostAny advice?
So I'd say your uphills will be slower than your downhills are quick but then that doesn't factor wind, weather, terrain, condition, ice and the fact that you need a greater level on aerobic fitness to get up a hill than you need to get down one.
Myself... I ****ing hate hills

Cheers. I'm only starting out and certainly don't have any proper hills on my route but I definitely feel like the uphill pain is far greater than my downhill gain. Someone at work told me that hills are good at accelerating fitness gains, so when I get past the initial hellish phase I might try and do more incline ( not short of incline in the 'five valleys')Originally posted by Rowan View PostDunno if there is a science to it.
