It's free and very good. There are others that do a similar job though.

Good luck Rodo. It's nice to see a few new names in this thread!

I'm getting tempted to just smash myself full of painkillers and start banking miles on it. Can't get much worse!
      Don't do it!

I was reading the beginning of this thread the other day. Rev leeroy Brown's catalogue of running injuries (post 121 - I don't know how to link to it on my phone) makes for sobering reading.

As far as free apps go I like strava too. Try a couple and see which suits you best
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

              JUNE:
              Saveloy: 93.9km
              RoadEnd: 67.4km
              Carra: 50km
              badpiggy: 45.3km
              Rich: 43.0km
              Slinky Skills: 18.3km
              Pablo: 8.6km

              10.7km.

What's the etiquette with running down country roads? When I was out on Saturday a car slammed on its brakes behind me as it couldn't overtake me as a car was coming on the other side. A feral looking couple shouted abuse at me out of the window for running on the wrong side of the road.

I was running on the left so admittedly couldn't see them coming but that made no difference as there was no space at the side of the road for me to go. Surely they should have been driving more slowly? Wouldn't have made a difference if I'd been running towards or away from them

Sorry, I'm going to do it again, but given that it's Shaggy doing the asking, and that we are the same age, at the same point in life, had very similar social circumstances, probably ingested a similar amount of narcotic and alcoholic substances for a similar amount of time, I feel that I can be forgiven for chucking my two pence in. Again

                So! Shaggy.

Running will make you feel good. It will make you happier, stronger, more alert, sleep better, and look less like you were up all night. But it will do very little to alleviate your ever growing titties

What will do that, much much quicker and much much easier, is what you eat. What your body does with what you put into it has so much more of an impact than what you make your body do, that makes zero sense to attempt to do anything other than manage the amount of fat you carry by what you eat. It's science, man

Case in point. All my life I've eaten ****, drank and smoked to excess and ingested all manner of dangerous substances.
But. I'm now 35, I do **** all exercise and apparently, all that fun stuff I did throughout my life was actually having an impact on my body! Who'd have thunk!

I started to get a belly and tits. I'm 6"2 so I hid it well. I'm a sexy ****er anyway so it didn't really bother me, but then the jowels started saying hello. And tight T shirts started looking rubbish. Jeans were much harder to get off than on

I joined a gym and went running loads. I felt great, much more healthy, got a real glow and started looking healthier, but I didn't really shed any fat. I slept better and felt better, but I still had an almighty overhang when sitting down

So I thought **** all that, and started reading about what food and drink actually does to you as a human being.
In about a year, I've gone from being tall and skinny yet with a belly and tits, to by far and away the best shape of my entire life despite being by far away the laziest and most sedentary I've ever ever been

I'm 35, I do **** all exercise. Last time I checked I was at 11% bodyfat. That's stupid. But an absolute piece of piss to achieve if you can A) be bothered to eat properly and B) afford to do it, both financially and in terms of having the time to

Running is great if you like running. But it is not going to do what you would like it to do

Whenever I run down a country road with no footpath I always try to run on the right so I can see the traffic coming It's not always possible though. Anyway well done on a great month mate!

So what did youdo Fierce? Did you follow any particular diet? Did you eat more often?

I've never been able to shift weight and I've never really understood why. I went last year and had a quick health check through work and the nurse told me I needed to eat more often (which sounded counter intuituve).

I hate running, hate it with a passion. I played hockey to a reasonable standard up until 10 years ago and since then put on some weight that I'd like to shift. My whole training was around short bursts of sprints so my body hates running any kind of distance.

I've been doing the Couch to 5k and my body is just about managing with the aches and pains of 20 years of sport. Still cant shift the weight though

Pretty jealous if I'm honest. It's been a couple of bad months back to back for me. I'd like to get back around the 100km mark next month though.
