Pretty jealous if I'm honest. It's been a couple of bad months back to back for me. I'd like to get back around the 100km mark next month though.
      Cheers Pablo and Carra.

Pretty pleased with getting to 100km as I've never run anywhere near this much before. Have found this thread very helpful. I need to work on speed as I'm still pretty damn slow (my last run of 11k averaged 6mins15 per km) but at least I'm starting to get some distance under my belt. The challenge is maintaining it I guess. This month has pretty much been the most I could fit in, running wise, and been helped by a relative lull at work.

Need to maintain this level till Sept at least so I can blitz my fitness test.

Yeah I think a 100km is roughly the max I can get away with too with work commitments and a family at home

So 10km in about 60 minutes. That's not bad to be fair. I think my best is about 51 minutes. If you keep at it you'll get it down to around the 55 min mark in no time.

12.1km. Out of the house at 6:45 this morning

Now off for an hour's walk trying to get this pesky baby off to sleep. Not a battle I'm likely to win.

Running in the rain is mega! Some of my favourite races have been in full blown downpours.

Decided to play through the pain barrier and managed a 20 mile week so far. Trial and error as discomfort seems lesser in my Pegs and strangely my Nike Frees. So either uber padded or minimalist runners and everything in between = full blown ouch time. Something crazy is going down with my left Achilles too. Known it was there for a year or so but it's normally numbed by the mileage. Can't remember the last time I only ran 40 miles in a month. Still smashed in a load on the bike to balance it out but not enjoying my rest one bit.
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Again

                          So! Shaggy.

Running will make you feel good. It will make you happier, stronger, more alert, sleep better, and look less like you were up all night. But it will do very little to alleviate your ever growing titties

What will do that, much much quicker and much much easier, is what you eat. What your body does with what you put into it has so much more of an impact than what you make your body do, that makes zero sense to attempt to do anything other than manage the amount of fat you carry by what you eat. It's science, man

Case in point. All my life I've eaten ****, drank and smoked to excess and ingested all manner of dangerous substances.
But. I'm now 35, I do **** all exercise and apparently, all that fun stuff I did throughout my life was actually having an impact on my body! Who'd have thunk!

I started to get a belly and tits. I'm 6"2 so I hid it well. I'm a sexy ****er anyway so it didn't really bother me, but then the jowels started saying hello. And tight T shirts started looking rubbish. Jeans were much harder to get off than on

I joined a gym and went running loads. I felt great, much more healthy, got a real glow and started looking healthier, but I didn't really shed any fat. I slept better and felt better, but I still had an almighty overhang when sitting down

So I thought **** all that, and started reading about what food and drink actually does to you as a human being.
In about a year, I've gone from being tall and skinny yet with a belly and tits, to by far and away the best shape of my entire life despite being by far away the laziest and most sedentary I've ever ever been

I'm 35, I do **** all exercise. Last time I checked I was at 11% bodyfat. That's stupid. But an absolute piece of piss to achieve if you can A) be bothered to eat properly and B) afford to do it, both financially and in terms of having the time to

Running is great if you like running. But it is not going to do what you would like it to do

I've never been able to shift weight and I've never really understood why. I went last year and had a quick health check through work and the nurse told me I needed to eat more often (which sounded counter intuituve).

I hate running, hate it with a passion. I played hockey to a reasonable standard up until 10 years ago and since then put on some weight that I'd like to shift. My whole training was around short bursts of sprints so my body hates running any kind of distance.

I've been doing the Couch to 5k and my body is just about managing with the aches and pains of 20 years of sport. Still cant shift the weight though
                          Yeah, care to elaborate?

Only a little one to finish the month before work but not aiming for any records or anything so I will be happy with around the 40-50 km a month to keep me going

After barely running for the past month or so (two deaths in the family, plus a holiday, general nightmare etc.) I've stupidly signed up for the Southport Half Marathon this Sunday.

I've done some good mileage over the year so far, and im VERY well rested, so I'm hoping by some miracle my legs will be fresh and I'll get it done

Sorry to hear that, Pabs. Hope things are looking up a bit.

You've smashed half marathons before though, no? Just remember the rule. If you can run 9 you can run 13. You'll be fine!
