it still sounds strange to me. It's Swedish for 'speed play', basically periods of fast running or sprints followed by a recovery, e.g. run fast for 7 lamp posts and the return to a light jog for the next 2 lamp posts. Constantly mix up the distance for the sprint and recovery.

Managed 51.03 miles last week, one of my highest, cut a 16 mile run down to 6 miles as it pissing it down and my legs ached a bit. Going to start double training 6 days a week now, really need to step it up and switch those ice coffees to green teas.

      Total for 2017:
      141.99 mi @ 8:06 min/mile avg

Switched from running to weights a year ago now. Current PRs:

        Squat: 140kg / 308lbs
        Deadlift: 170kg / 375lbs
        Bench 120kg / 265lbs

Nothing amazing, but still good progress for newbie.

I ran 6km this morning though and it took me nearly 35 minutes

          120 bench?

You sure that's right Pabs? What weight are you?

Started training twice (today) and hope to keep it up for 3 weeks, this could go one of two ways; injure myself badly from over-training or get my fitness back and PB in a Half Marathon in 4 weeks, fingers crossed it's the latter

6-6-6 minutes @ mile pace with 2 mins recovery in morning. 5 miles of easy/fast with half mile splits in evening.

              I weigh about 92kg (202lbs) now. I was about 97.5kg (215lbs) when I did 120kg. Right now I can do 110kg, one rep max.

The lad I train with does 150kg for reps, and can squat 200kg+, so I've never felt that strong compared to him

Well if that's your 'newbie' figures, you should consider olympic lifting once you get serious.

Your mate must be a beast. Wouldn't fancy him cutting in when I'm doing my sets, but not sure I'd have the balls to say no.

I've been stuck on 60kgs bench for a long time now and won't squat more than 70 with my back problems. Does me though, I'm only there to keep fit and keep trim.

Well I've never been slight of frame. I played rugby for years. When I started lifting a year ago I could bench 80kg after only a couple of weeks. So I suppose after a year 120kg is a natural progression. I worked out I've trained over 200 times in the past year so it's been earned.

My friend is a powerlifter and has done several competitions. His tips and help with my form over the past few months have definitely helped me add more weight. To be honest though, as much as I enjoy getting stronger and making PRs, I'm in it for the vanity He's a huge guy, but not very toned. It's not what I'm aiming for anyway.

I always imagined you as being quite skinny for some reason (which is odd considering your username/av). I'll have to remember this if I every go all keyboard warrior on you, just on the off chance I ever did bump into you in real life.

Ha, I often look at other people in the gym and think if you are going to the effort of going to the gym 5+ times a week and clearly are quite strong and muscular, why wouldn’t you put some effort into getting rid of the gut? Different for your mate if he competes and is only interested in strength building, but I’m on about those types that strut about in vests, posing in the mirror, thinking they are great with their 40” waists.

Although in saying that, because of my poor relationship with food and my dieting, it’s unfeasible for me to ever build much muscle, so they are probably looking at me and thinking the opposite, ‘how long has he been going to the gym and still looks like a wee twerp?’.

anyone here suffered from Planter Fasciitis or Heel Spurs?
Had planter that developed into a Heel Spur and not been able to run for 4 months now. Time is running out for me to run my next half marathon.
So difficult to get rid of this pain!

I've heard PF is a bitch. Heel spurs though are what got Trump out of Nam 4 times so you sir are a narcissistic dementoid.

Just bought a pair of Brooks Ghost 9s. These are replacing the Adidas Boosts I bought last year and have been blaming for knee issues I've been having in the same time. Will test em out tomorrow. I've been running 8 or 9 km intermittently and with minimal issues for the last couple of months. Ran 11k last week and knee felt **** so I'm curious to see how these new bad boys go.

Good work! I'm heading down the same road as you now. I was at work the other day and a button popped of my shirt and rolled down the table. I was ****ing mortified. The ****ers hooted with laughter.

How are the Brooks? I'm an overpronator so have been looking at that range.

I'm turning into a fat cunt too. I haven't been mountain biking since I finished my last race last year and I'm eating like a horse.

I blame energy drinks, and Bacardi and coke. And food..

I've been walking the dog regularly (45 minutes a walk) and stopped drinking both energy drinks and alcohol. Let's see if I can get back on the bike soon!

There is good evidence that being an overpronator/supinator/neutral makes **** all difference to rate of injury whilst wearing neutral shoes. Loads of the claims about running trainer tech is crap. Grab yourself something neutral, comfortable and functional. Then hit the road
