England head coach Peter Moores, speaking to Sky Sports:
"We feel hollow, we haven't played well enough. I don't know what to say, what to feel... you feel like you've let people down. I don't think we bowled as well as we could have done in the middle but we started well and ended well. The bowlers haven't bowled as well as they wanted to do, that's been reflected in results.
"We should have chased that down tonight. We haven't got a settled team, we lost two key players at the top of the order - Jonathan Trott was our number three - we accept that and move on from it. We picked the side we thought was the best team. We went for more explosive batters but we know historically we were taking a risk because more experienced teams do better in World Cups.
"I don't think Eoin Morgan is a bad captain, just because we lost tonight. The analysis we do is not how it is talked about in the press. That's not the issue, we just haven't played well enough."
On what England are lacking: "We had no left-arm seamers and no left-arm spinners. And we have not got a bank of them left at home either. The reality is we are not overloaded with a lot of high-class one-day players back at home."
Playing the right brand? "I don't know if we are playing the right brand. You want your players to be exposed at a high level of cricket early on…
"You have got to be powerful, athletic, dynamic. Those are areas we have got to look at as a country, not just this team."
At the end of his interview with Sky, Peter Moores said he believed he could still make a difference as England coach but stressed he will take time to reflect on this exit.

'Catalogue of mistakes'
"This World Cup has been catalogue of mistakes. Alex Hales was playing in Sri Lanka then he doesn't play for weeks. Gary Ballance comes in, we have seen Steven Finn playing poorly for a long time, there was the sacking of KP and not telling the public the full reasons. Sticking with Cook for far too long as captain. The whole thing is a mess, and when you keep making mistakes you can't expect the players to suddenly turn it on and play well in a World Cup."What do you mean it could've been anyone? I think they would have done better sticking with Cook to be honest. Long term he was always going to have to be replaced but they let it go for too long and he should have been given the world cup."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I've never really watched much world cup cricket over the years. I prefer test matches. It seems with the invention of 20/20 its become less technical and all about brute force. Big ****s with even bigger bats clubbing the ball for all its worth. Don't get me wrong, I used to love watching the windies hitting 6's in test matches when our lot would be lucky to hit one 6 in the entire series but now it seems dull when there's very little the bowler can do to prevent being hit all over the ground. For me there's a definite line in the ground between real cricket and the one day/twenty twenty stuff. It's almost like two different sports played by different type players. Unfortunately with peoples attention spans so limited these days and the TV money involved, the writing is on the wall for test match cricket. How can it compete?Always borrow money from a pessimist. You think its going the way of Rugby League/Union? Same sport, different codes.
I can forsee a day when the T20 guys dont play Test Cricket and vice versa. Its just a shame all this new style stuff is at the detriment of Test Matches. Nothing better than a tight 5 day test match over the summer for me.*Except Michael, who died.

Maybe or it will die a natural death. In order for test matches you need to be playing a longer format on a weekly basis at club level. Not enough people, especially over here, watch county cricket. I can't see it being financially viable. Then you have young cricketers, what will draw them to the longer game when the money and exposure is all for the shorter formats?Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. For me 1 dayers are the nothing cricket these days.
There'll always be a place for tests, they're safe, it's the real sport. I think the death knells that come for it are always premature (i dayers were going to kill it off at one point apparently)
But 1 dayers and T20 are filling the same niche, some entertaining slap and tickle. And T20 does it better.
1 dayers are now basically 30 overs of whatever followed by a T20 innings if you've not dropped too many wickets. And it is becoming more entertaining for it overall, except those first 30 overs are kind of nothing.
