I think that's a bit of a red herring, after all the next highest score was 36, he got almost 10 times that.

As for his form, I'm pretty sure he was the leading English batsman in his last series, certainly better than Bell or Cook.

Bell doesn't really convince me. It seems to me he waits until his place is under threat, has a decent innings or two and once he's safe, returns to being an elegant failure

Goes without saying Morgan is a prick but you can't argue with any of this. For me it all goes back to the 'KP Genius' Twitter account - those players responsible were never held to account for it, and Pietersen has been hung out to dry since. It's a joke.

I think the next highest score thing just suggests that all the other batsmen are crap Really I think one innings (particularly one against a weak team) isn't enough evidence to give him a recall.

Graves has acted like a massive **** about this. For me there are reasonable cricketing reasons to not pick Pietersen and he needs more than one monster score to change them. If there are other issues then he should never have been given hope and persuaded to come and lend some stardust to county cricket.

I tend to agree that Bell has flattered to deceive. I'd probably keep him for this ashes just to have some experience and then be looking to move on.

Yeah, I tend to agree on KPs form. 355 is a massive score no matter what team you are playing though. He still would have made waves if it was a warm up game.

His batting at the longer form hasnt been great for a couple of years. But then again, this is really the first time Since the Ashes over here that he has batted domestically isnt it?

I think this whole KP thing makes everyone look like tossers. All sides. But moaning about it now is only going to spoil the fun of the summer (It will be fun, Ashes series are always fun) so its just something that is finished and we need to move on from.

If we have a poor batting display this summer, there will probably be questions to ask. But I dont know if the answer to those questions at that point will be a 36 year old T20 player.

Its a real shame that personality trashed the chance for England fans to see one of their best ever batsman perform though.

Based on his own article he didn't expect to get in, I just don't think he deserved to get ruled out. Its the biggest domestic score since 2011, so it really is quite a statement. It all makes no sense, particularly when, as pointed out, the perpetrators of the KP genius account go unpunished and remain in the team. Surely the catalyst for where we are now.

If this were any other country he'd be playing, noses have been bitten to spite faces. It is a decision which if handled differently is not such an issue.

The second highest score was by Sangakara. Maybe you've heard of him? He's not bad at batting.

KP didn't just score a hundred, he scored THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY NOT OUT which is the 6th highest score in the history of the county championship It's a farce he's not in with a shout of selection.
