I've no idea how a case like that will play out. Can they prove any provocation? Who is bringing the charges anyway is it the guy who Stokes hit? The fact he is in NZ suggests a degree of confidence that he is going to be available.

One thing is for sure it will be a much, much improved Ashes if he is involved.

the way I read it is that the police are asking the CPS for a suitable offence category to proceed with, rather than if to proceed or not. The lad suffered a fractured eye socket.

For Stokes to go to NZ he must have been told by his lawyer that he would win a court case and so he is unlikely to be charged. Otherwise surely he'd have stayed in the UK?
