Bob Bubka mentioned Rory wanted it too much, He probably knows that Cam is going to the Liv so put more pressure on himself to put him in his place.

I think there's only one (or two) vague doglegs on the course. No course would ever be designed like that now - all dead straight, vast wide fairways. Don't get me wrong the place is magical but I think the game has sort of overtaken it now.

Yeah, as mentioned, I’ve never been a fan of links golf, even when it is bad weather which is more of a leveller, it again feels completely arbitrary. And as you are saying wasn’t designed for these guys to be driving 400 plus yards.

I don’t think they are due back for & years, but I suspect it will always be on the list of Open courses for the history.

Why do they cut the rough so much? I would say most links or linksy courses around England atm - if you're more than a yard or two off the fairway you are absolutely ****ed - like hack it out sideways kinda ****ed - these guys were missing fairways and being allowed to get away with it as the 2nd cut was so short

Final 2 were too focused on their group imo, Cam putting 4 birdies in 4 holes on the turn, Rory had no time to step it up a gear.

If they played it again next weekend you'd fancy Smith again. Worthy winner

I still can't get over that putt on 17. Even though you know he's a machine-like putter, with the pressure I thought he'd either end up rolling back into the sand or be way over the far side. To knock it to 12-15 feet and then, of course, roll it in from there, was absolutely clutch as ****.

Only just managed to recap the final round, as it was on at stop o'clock here.
