Limerick win again easily - into the final again

What a game.

The Boys were back in town and then some.

Galway started the game by putting their balls on the table, Limerick just gave it the old "come at me bro" and just got stronger and stronger as the game went on.


The second half was just Galway getting battered.


Also no need for niceties with the Galway support afterwards. Counties like Clare and Cork are proper rivals but there is a respect for their teams and their fans before and after games regardless of result.


Only one team left in the competion now that I think stands between Limerick and winning four All Ireland Titles back to back and that is the afore mentioned Clare.

Clare for me are the next best team in Ireland and they are still improving whilst Limerick are slightly on the turn so that makes any game with Clare a 50/50 one imo. A Limerick - Clare final is going to be the usual bum squaker of a game that happens when they meet. Clare going ahead early doors, Limerick clawing it back, and then the game being settled by a single score either way.


Is a weird one for me as I do not want to meet Clare in the final but at the same time I want them to beat Kilkenny in their semi final.

I should want Kilkenny to win as they are not as good as Clare imo, but I also like seeing Kilkenny losing and I have a soft spot for any Clare team.

Clare bottle job vs Kilkenny again, they just can’t beat them - TJ Reid is still something else btw, unreal yesterday. Obviously I’d prefer Limerick to win but 4 in a row is boring but then so is Kilkenny winning again. I think Limerick will win comfortably though

Did not see the game yesterday as was in a kayak on the Suir, but I fully expected to come back to a Clare win tbh.

Do think that Kilkenny should be an easier (well as easy as an All Ireland final gets anyway) team to play against than Clare would have been for Limerick.

Kilkenny will try to turn it into a gun fight and you never want to do that against Limerick as even an off form Limerick as they are happy to go score attempt for score attempt with any team in the country.


Clare on the other hand are good enough to go man to man with any team for an entire game and they when on form are very close to being a physical match for Limerick along with defo being a match in skill terms.

Think if Clare have one real weakness is that they do not really have the knack of grinding something out when they are a bit below form, whereas Limerick can be outplayed for a half and still find ways to come back from being 3, 4 or 5 down to win a game.

Clare off form tend to miss a lot of scoring chances and as such lose that ability to grind out games.


So am assuming yesterday was Kilkenny at their best and Clare a bit off form.

Kilkenny do as they do, they find a way. I think they out worked Clare for the majority of the gam and marked Tony Kelly v well. But a wonder save from the KK won them the game at the death and Clare got turned over from a short puck out for a goal as well when they were on top - KK won the big moments

Limerick vs the *******s, sorry I mean Kilkenny.


Already have a big green Limerick flag outside my house here in North Cork and went to the shop this morning strutting in front of the Cork workers in my Limerick top.


Even made sure there is a Limerick flag on display in the shop up country today just to niggle a few Leinster heads.

Is less fun trying to be a WUM when the Cork heads want to see Kilkenny beaten today and are rowing in behind Limerick.


Even my Ukrainians have gotten in on the act and are dressed in green today.

Grandad Ukraini has been fascinated by hurling since he arrived in Ireland. He thinks the game is utter madness and he loves it.

"Bookzer, they carry weapons onto pitch? Is warrior game yes?"




Going to be a really tough game if the weather has been as wet in Dublin yesterday and today as it has been down here. That wet heavy pitch and wet sliotars are going to be great equalizers imo.

History beckons yet again for Limerick if they win though and who better to try to achive that against than the previous unbeatables.



Still glad Limerick are not playing Clare in the final though. Clare have something about them when playing Limerick the same way Kilkenny seem to have something over Clare. Playing Clare in the rain would have been a nightmare.



As for today, if Limerick are at their best and Kilkenny at at their very best, Limerick win.


If Limerick are a shade off and Kilkenny are at their best then it becomes a pick 'em game.


Weather is the great unknown factor today though. Dry couple days before the game and I would have expected Limerick to go at Kilkenny straight away like Limerick did against Galway and basically challenge Kilkenny to get into a gun fight from the off.


Wet heavy pitch might see Kilkenny strike first and Limerick having to do one of their going in at half time three or four points behind and then start clawing things back in the second half in the way Limerick seem to do when behind and then it going into the final stretches in a manner similar to the Limerick vs Clare Muinster Final. Real tit for tat stuff.


Two really good teams going at it today no matter what. No puny AFL types on show

Folk should start to arrive in about 20 mins. A mix of Ukrainians, all of "mine" plus their family from the farm next door, Irish and one scouser.


Cider, beer, soft drinks and lots of milk for me in the fridge. Nibbles on the table and pizzas preordered to arrive during the game.

Limerick need to up it Jaco……. lucky to be only 3 down, they've shown great resilience in the Munster Championship so they’ll need that again
