Personally, even if Carroll had been utter **** today (i dont think he was, by the way), i'm still in the celebration mindset.

We'll assess the bits n bobs of the situation tomorrow, but for now....

I think once we know how to play with Carroll he will prove to be easily LFC class. The difference for me is that Suarez can do it alone where as Carroll relies on others to produce the same, not his fault it;s just the way his game is. When we start playing to his strengths and he is fully up and running there isn't a team that won't be bricking it at his presence.

Based on the stats earlier in this thread he clearly played well in what was given to him I just think the team let him down to a certain degree.
I think it will be a few years before we see the best of Carroll.

I wouldn’t be his biggest fan, but I do think some of the criticism he is receiving is a bit OTT.

As my granny used to say. When you've got a bit of cheese look at the cheese not the holes.
I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.

Enrique was very good though I thought Lucas challenged him for our best player. Kelly was splendid. Henderson as very neat and tidy. A much better game. Downing was good sporadically.

Carroll is not good enough. Outside the box his link up play etc is awful. He is not a £20m player let along £35m.

For me the man of the match was Vermaelen. He was immense for Arsenal and we would have been 2 or 3 up in the first half but for him.

On the whole a deserved result. We dominated possession but noticeable Arsenal were more incisive in the final third when they got there.

We got a bit of luck with the first goal (which we deserved considering our poor luck in the first half against Sunderland) but we deserved the win on the whole. We still need creativity up front.

            Is your Granny's surname Benitez?

But careful (emboldened bit) you're going to break Mattshark's consensus there.
And maybe one day you'll have the capacity to understand context. Though probably not.

What was your view on Adam and Henderson today?

I wont ask about Lucas, because i know he holds position number two in the 'players Mattshark rates' chart. (Capacity - 3).

I thought they were tidy but lacking in the final third. I was a little disappointed with Adam's final ball, but impressed with his defensive work. I felt Henderson looked a bit lost around the penalty area.

I thought Adam was ok. He's winning me over. See I am able to change my opinion, I was quite negative about signing him. Henderson isn't offering much at the moment, but his learning curve is going to be quite pronounced. Hoping Gerrard is going to have a huge input there as a senior midfielder, much like Gary Mc did with him (acc to his autobiog...)

I know you never asked me Craig, but I thought i'd give my opinion anyway

My main praise for them was more to do with the way they kept their unit together and kept busy, making it hard for Arsenal in that area.

Adam has a touch of 'assuredness' about him and for a pretty young player and especially being new to the club, almost exudes a touch of seniority, which is nice. He'll do something different, which you need at times and he has the balls to try something different. I like that.

As a CM trio in that system, they offer a nice range of different attributes, with Lucas the protector, Henderson the neat/tidy and busy one and Adam, a touch of vision and potential creativity.

Spearing could slot in for Henderson, get in people's faces and do his usual busy work. It's an option i like for certain games, that CM trio.

He's got the first touch of a rapist.

Technically (I repeat, technically) a very poor player, and I'm not sure it can be instructed out of him. Although Niall Quinn was an absolute hambone of a player, and then turned into something approaching Maradona in his linkup play (relatively speaking)......so there's always hope.
