**** him, I hope he becomes a recluse, I'm sick to death of hearing about him and his vile wife.

Worse things happen. It's maybe a disappointment for him but it's not like he hasn't had some good luck in life. I can't understand why anyone else would even give it a moment's thought.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Can't say I agree. I don't think he's even worth 50 caps. If he's the best or 2nd best right winger available at the moment then he should be in. Unfortunately, he's past it, is playing in a piss weak league and hasn't played enough competitive footbal. Furthermore, capello should be shaping a squad for future tournaments and not giving out caps to "popular" players when beckhams inclusion offers no advantage to england as a team for now or in the future. The only person who would benefit beckhma being in the team, is beckham himself. Use the friendlies to bring in players who will be around when it matters.

Swearing in massive letters should be banned during working hours.

Sure, the coverage is totally inane. That's my point really.

It's interesting though - here we can both see why it's unimportant. Yet Chomsky would argue that all sport as spectacle is unimportant. It's cases like this that make me realize he's right really.

Beckham shouldn't have got to 99 caps in the first place.

About the only good thing McClaren did was dropping him after the 2006 world cup.
Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

I'd give him his 100th on the condition that he announced his international retirement after the game.

You could also argue that Chomsky is unimportant..

He'd only announce a return further down the line to even greater fanfare.*

International retirement and media embargo and you've got a deal
