i'd be tempted to never use atletico in an arguement as the club as an institution is insane and defies logic at every turn. if they ever got say rafa as a manager and stuck with him they would be a real threat but still dont see it happening. for me the leagues are all overated and there is no one dominant team as there used to be such as milan in the early nineties or the pre beckham real so saying which league is the best is subjective.

as for ronaldinho personally think he's getting back to his best, scoring most of the time he plays but is in need of a new environment. would love to see a triumvarate of babel gerrard and ronaldinho behind torres next season, the only problem is that would mean stevie hving to play on the right a lot, and that comes with problems.

Explain why Bolton beat Atletico Madrid?

Explain why only one Spanish club is left in the CL while four English clubs are still in it.

You can't just say "it's better" and run off. Back it up.

      Otherwise, it's bollocks.
You can't judge it on a few games. I watched both Atletico vs Bolton ties and Atletico were vastly superior but just couldn't score. It happens. Using that argument, Barnsley are better than us and chelsea! And sevilla were knocked out on pens, doesn't mean they are ****.

I wouldn't use any batch of games as a guide, to get a real idea you'd really need a league of 40 and play out all the fixtures and see who comes out on top.

I don't know the stats on CL and UEFA cup wins either but I'd be interested to see which country has most wins if anyone has access

I wasn't using it as "proof" or to judge. It's just YET ANOTHER example that Spanish clubs aren't as strong as English ones.

You can't just ignore the evidence. English clubs are way outperforming Spanish ones. Fact.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

i wouldnt disagree with that for this season but if u got arseanl, barcelona and milan to all play each other i think you'd find (as happened in one case)
barca lose to milan, milan lose to arsenal and arsenal would lose to barca. similarly if u pick three other teams you'd find similar results. all a convulted way of saying there is a degree of parity but english teams are stronger this season. still think barca will win the cl unless they face a team that they match up badly against, us!

Villareal beat Barca and that probably means that Real will win the title. Iniesta and Fernandez the best players on the pitch, Henry was rubbish and subbed again.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

You do love your Spanish footy Nic! Everyones entitled to their opinion. Here's mine:

The English league is better to watch, that is my opinion and the one of the majority of people around the world according to all news articles I read.

The English league also has the better teams as proved by seeing how far each nations teams have progressed in Europe.

And as a side note Barca look very poor and one dimensional without Messi, and with him missing for six weeks, if Barca get a tough draw in the next round of the CL they will be knocked out.
                Forwards.......

Been trying to think of an English version of Athletico. Best I can come up with is the Geordies
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
                    Mine angry and defrauded young?

not quite....Atletico have actually won things.

Its hard to say who would compare to them in the Prem. Most likely would be Man City, they've had some quality players, massive support, but its never really worked out for them.

Atleti did win the double in 96 though

I think England has 4 teams that are a cut above the rest. Spain have only 2 maybe 3 but IMO their league is stronger the rest down. Even their bottom 3. If you faced Recreativo, Levante and Murcia off against Fulham derby and whoever, they'd open up a can of whoopass IMO. If people want to use Europe as an example, the UEFA cup would prove this over the past few years.

As for the watching, it all depends of what you're after. I agree that the prem is far more exciting but if it's silky footy you are after, there's no better place than la liga IMO.

As for barca, don't know what's going on there. The individual quality they have is unreal but they can't seem to put it together right now, messi or no messi. I actually think Real Madrid are as bad as they've been in a long time and am not happy that it looks like the title will be theirs once again.

What is going at Barca is Henry. Arsenal are probably still laughing all the way to the bank.

He has been a BIG disappointment the whole season. He has lost the fantastic acceleration he had the first 10 yards and that was together with his game intelligence and vision the things that made him great.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Barca have played a lot better without him this season.

Its a different culture of football. In Spain, the defence is a lot more deeper and it is difficult for a player like Henry to try and get around defenders which could explain why Torres is doing so well in the Premiership.

Also in Spain, the teams and players aren't so direct in their approach. The ball isn't always going forwards so Henry isn't going to get as much of the ball and will have to be more patient and not lose his head.

Injuries have also taking its toll on Henry. He is ageing and he isn't consistently in the side which doesn't help his learning of the league.
